I came up with this idea when I was painting my nails last night and got some of it on my keyboard and it wouldn't come off no matter how much I gently wiped it with a cloth dampened with nail polish remover and that was when it occurred to me that much like the way people add personal designs to their canvas shoes I could totally do that for my laptop as well. The laptop's an iBook G4 and the décor right now is fairly simple. I'm not sure how much I plan on decorating this. I added drops of "sun kissed" and "blue me away!" nail polish on the "f" and "j" keys respectively. I think this sort of touch is reminiscent of the way artists wear smocks splattered with paint. That sort of look is honestly kinda sexy to me. :J

I've seriously never ever done anything like this before but I totally want to get into the habit of it. It's so fulfilling.

Ahh, I don't know. I just wanted to show this off. If you've ever customized something why don't you share it here or something. It'd be über-coo'.

My original GameBoy was coloured with Pac-Man and the Ghosts along with Mario and a couple other characters.

All done with sharpie by my friend. But I have no clue where the gameboy is now.

I put stickers over the back of my old laptop, but unfortunately they kept getting crap spilled on them.

This new one I'm avoiding doing that with, mostly because my new one has a wood grain texture which isn't really conducive to sticker placement.

Oh, speaking of which, do any of you remove stickers off the palm rests? Mine thankfully didn't come with any because it's awesome. Palm rest stickers are evil and make me feel like a tool whose wardrobe consists of clothes that advertise the brand I'm wearing in huge letters, like Aéropostale or whatever.

I took off all the "Intel Core 2" and "Windows Vista" stickers on my laptop, if that's the sort of thing you're talking about... but for awhile after you could kind of tell where they used to be, which I found annoying. (Now it's harder to see)

Though I have to say, in the case of Apple you don't have a sticker, but you do have a large glowing logo, which is more tasteful but still branding.

Oh, I've only seen those on the bottom of laptops. Though I've only ever worked with laptops that people owned for a while before.

Oh, that's weird. Most computers I've seen seem to come with them somewhere very visible. Those people probably removed them or replaced the palm rest, maybe?

I painted my old cellphone red - which was previously black - because I thought red was the coolest color. It actually turned out well despite using Acryllic paint.

There are dialogs for that, you know. :T And the spec-stickers won't detect RAM upgrades, that's for sure.

You can always put a large sticker over it, like they tend to do on TV.

My laptop still has the Core 2 and Windows Vista stickers, but the latter looks more like an emblem permanently cemented to the case (it even had a protective film on top). I'm too scared to try removing it.

I took them off of mine.
It just takes a bit of work to peel it off, and then cleaning off the sticker goop.
It did help that my laptop had a gloss finish though I suppose.

I never actually had much trouble with the goop because it sticks back to the sticker so you can just use the sticker to remove the goop. It seems it likes to stick to the sticker just a bit more than the plastic.
