I'm living in
Wiesbaden, Germany, a city with apparently a rather rich history (reading the Wikipedia article

).
Being a very old spa town, notable sights are of course the various hot springs, as well as ex. the casino, several churches, the Biebrich Palace, the Neroberg mountain and its funicular. I'm personally rather fond of the Rhine's shoreline in the boroughs along the river - not the most notable or beautiful thing about the city, I guess, but some very nice places to spend some time at.
I'm also a frequent visitor of various flea markets around the city, mainly those at the Real hypermarkets in Biebrich and at Mainzer Straße, which, in my opinion, have a certain kind of nice atmosphere around them, certain sellers who're always there, etc. There's ex. one dark-skinned, African(?) shoe seller, loudly advertising his stuff, proclaiming he's doing "Schwarzarbeit" (a wordplay; that means illegal/unreported employment, with "Schwarz" meaning black

), and an older Russian man, who doesn't appear to speak much German and tends to be selling NTSC-U consoles and games, and stepdown converters. I've often bought stuff off him and we somehow understand each other pretty well - he once asked me if a PSX game (a US Gran Turismo, I think) he had there was compatible with the PS2 (also US) he also had for sale, because if they didn't get sold, he'd want to play some of that later on
Also - which is probably a bit of a weird thing - whenever we've been away on holiday for a while or so, and are on the way back, I on the lookout for mentions of Wiesbaden or the highways around here (namely the A66 and A643) on traffic signs. Gives me this nice and warm feeling of "almost back home".
