I posted a large thing about Castlevania 64 on Unseen but I haven't seen anything about it here so here's some of my findings.

In the early trailers you were supposed to be able to whip swing with Reinhardt like Simon did in CV4. Unfortunately they removed the feature but left what appears to be whip swing points in the Tower of Execution. The earliest trailer shows Reinhardt swinging across lava so that's probably what this is. They removed these entirely in the level in CV Legacy of Darkness.

Here's an unused status effect- Sto which is no doubt short for Stone was cut for unknown reasons. There is one part in the game where you can be petrified by enemies (an area which fits in very well with the item that would be used to cure petrification) but its the only point. Perhaps they found a status and an item for such a small part of the game worthless and deleted it. You can still access this status effect with a gameshark code which I have if anyone wants it. This status was also removed in LOD.

There's also another unused status for when your health got low labeled "bad" but it is totally removed from the retail version. You can see a screenshot of it here:
http://www.unseen64.net/articles/castlevania-64-beta-analysis/

Unused Items

Incandescent Gaze - According to the description it raises the players focus for a bit. Not sure what this could do. Maybe some kind of bullet time thing.

Potpourri is what would have cured the Sto status mentioned earlier. Since in the final game you can only get fossilized in place is in a garden potpourri kinda fits.

They don't have an item description in the English version of the game but when made to display in the menu it describes an unused point system for buying from Renon. The engagement ring in the Japanese version says that it is a present from the Devil and increases Carrie's stats. In Carrie's bad ending Malus who is really Dracula ask Carrie to marry her so perhaps this plot line had more bearing at one point.

There were originally 4 characters(Reinhardt Carrie Coller and Cornell). The chainsaw gardener uses the exact same texture that Coller did for his chainsaw before he was removed.

Cornell was later made the star of CV 64 Legacy of Darkness which is the same game with more levels and characters. His alternate outfit in this game is his costume from the CV beta. Its a prisoner outfit which reflects his original story as being a prisoner/werewolf in Dracula's tower that became playable.

More later if I think of it.

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
