I don't know any French either, but I do know some German and Russian...

Anyways, "Derpa" sounds like a weird name for a company.

XHTML allows <b> and <i>, but not <u> and <s>. Also, really, requiring the alt attribute for every image? What do I use for a CAPTCHA? I'm certainly not going to put its text in there.

Also, the following is invalid:
<input type="hidden" name="id" value="blah" />

It has to be wrapped in a container like so:
<div>
<input type="hidden" name="id" value="blah" />
</div>

You know, because otherwise the invisible element might show up in the wrong spot.

Fun fact: They were considering removing <img> from XHTML.

This is why I stay with HTML 4.01.

What? The fiends! How could they think of such a thing? D:

I only know basic HTML and CSS and the fact you have to add slashes to the end of one-piece tags. :x

I still use the HTML that was current in something like 1996. I always thought XHTML was pointless, and why are they removing like 99% of the language? Pretty soon, the only remaining tags will be <br> and <div style="whatever">.

XHTML is like Newspeak: tags are being removed a lot. It's like the only (programming) language where the vocabulary gets smaller.

My HTML is ludicrously outdated as well, since it all comes from one reference book I bought quite awhile ago, which was at a bargain store... Actually, it did have a mention of CSS... "Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is an advanced feature of HTML that is rarely supported. However, as newer browsers may possibly come out that will support this, a new version of this book will be produced" or something like that

Yeah, I learned HTML in 2002, from a book that was written in 1998. For one, it advocated putting tags in ALL CAPS (although I use all-lowercase anyway).

I never really put tags in all caps, only back when I was first learning HTML I did, and I use all-lowercase now.

Actually, I find all-caps programming to be generally lame. For some reason, old programming languages tend to be written COMPLETELY IN UPPERCASE by tradition, including most variants of Basic (but not Commodore Basic, the one I grew up with).

Something like SQL, where only some words are in all caps, is fine though...

I think those of us who use our names and genders without changing them every five minutes are a dying breed.

I could never get into the whole "rename after a character every five minutes" gear either... mabye it's just because the only name I feel comfortable with anymore is my own.

I never really have the desire to change my name to that of a character. I think Super Paper Mario is awesome, but I'm not changing my name to Dimentio or Francis. At most it would be a pun off of Peardian, like Purrdian or Nerrdian.

There's also the part about me possibly forgetting I changed my name and not being able to log in.

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
