Back in the main TCRF topic here there were some people saying that we need guidelines for what should be in a "featured article". I decided to whip up a small list of guidelines based on stuff that's already in featured articles.

*Images

There should be images documenting something if available. For example, if there is a debug mode that can be activated, there should be at least one image of what it looks like. The Lufia 2 page has images of pretty much all of the unused content in the game, including multiple images of the debug mode.

*Descriptions

There should be detailed descriptions for unused functions, abilities and the like. The New Vegas page describes what each of the unused items do.

*Comparisons (for prototype pages and regional differences mostly)

There should be visual comparisons when available. The Megaman 7 proto page does an excellent job at this; each of the level pages has an image of a level section in the prototype and an image of the area in the final version. This makes it easy to see the differences without having to rely on a written description.

*Sounds

If there are unused sounds/music, you should be able to listen to it on the wiki. The FFT page has all of the unused music available for you to listen to.

*Most of the content should be on the page

Most of the content that the writer wants to cover should be on the page. It's okay if there's one blank section with a to-do note on it (like the proto Chrono Trigger page), but not if there are multiple ones.

If one thing could be added.

Grammar: the page should be written in a professional way with an absence of spelling errors and proper structure.

Not really important, but we should have the names of stuff spelled right.

That would be nice, but the problem with that would be enforcing it on every page. I was on a wiki where a certain page design was enforced on pages, and what happened is that it turned into a circle-jerk between him and the 4 or so users (me included ) that obeyed the page design because nobody else wanted to edit the wiki because of how strictly-enforced it was. It would be better to keep my ideas as "suggestions" for an ideal/Featured Page, not something every small page should be 100% required to follow.

When I first started editing on the TCRF, I used the featured articles as guidelines for my own pages. They're very helpful for figuring out the "ideal" page layout and amount of content. I'm sure I'm not the only one that's done this, either.

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
