Basically, there are shitty artists out there. An obvious statement. And yet, some of these terrible artists are somehow popular and those who are actually trying to become artist wish to jump off a bridge because of this insanity.

My eyes are currently locked on this girl. Frankly, her art is terrible, and Auxiliatrix agrees. We've even criticized her on this, and... well...

And I won't judge an artist if they can give well thought-out reasons for why their art looks bad (like an advant garde artist), because they are making the conscious decision to make purposefully bad art (which could imply that they know the basics of art well enough and may be good artists if they weren't doing bad art purposefully). I can even understand a novice artist who wants to do better, since they know they don't have some things down, but are willing to take the time to learn.

But bad artists who don't care and won't improve and give real artists headaches? Well, I guess this can be a cathartic topic to discuss them.

Plus I am an optimist in trying to change people's views, so if we can also change these aspiring artists for the better, I'm gung-ho with it.

The worst part is that I know a lot of much better artists (myself included) who are nowhere near as popular as this girl. (She has twice as many watchers as me!)

I can understand people who just aren't good at art but are trying their best, but she doesn't even seem to want to improve, and that's what pisses me off.

On that note, get a load of this hornses ass. (He used to cyberstalk me, but I'm not linking to him because of that--I'm linking to him because his art is fucking abysmal and he hasn't improved one bit since he was, like, 15.)

I don't think I've said anything towards you about your art, but you're actually decent and respected and accept criticism so I respect you.

What grinds my gears are just abysmal artists who refuse to change regardless of how much help and criticism that is being offered. Again, probably me being SRS about art, since no one who is abysmal actually makes it. And if so, the stump's nearby.

Basically, people who actually put in effort in art I'll respect.
People who are terrible but aren't really noted I won't notice.
People who are terrible but gets more praise than good artists gets me to rage.

I'm one of those who does bad art intentionally.

Well, not really bad, just... abstract, in ways. I know I could still improve upon it, but now and then just banging out something unusual helps relieve stress.

It might be a step toward actually drawing, in a way.

DA is a shitty designed site that uses a shitty system for everything.

As one should know by hand, the site was only made to cash in on artists.

Frankly, if there was a better site for art, I would jump ship to it right away, but frankly, there isn't, which is kinda sad, really. :/

No gabu, but many people upgrade to "premium" accounts. With out one of those it's silly how many basic functions your locked out of. Not to mention artists who strike it big sell their prints via them, which of course, they make money on.
