So a while ago I got linked to jap-sai. It's a really great site that sells all sorts of Japanese-region games, often in box and all that fun stuff.

It also has really hilarious descriptions for ... certain things.

There are many ways of remembering the 3DO, and fondly is not one of them. The machine was a nasty, rushed, and poorly thought out stop-gap of a format, released just as the 16-Bit era of the Mega Drive and Super Famicom was coming to a close, and the 32-Bit generation of the Sega Saturn and PlayStation was looming on the horizon.

The 3DO's eventual withdrawal from the market in mid-1996 was inevitable, and long overdue. Yet, the chain of events surrounding its cringe-worthy lifespan and hilarious demise make for an interesting story - one that should never be forgotten, lest something like this happen again.


Keep in mind that they sell these things. Well, games for it. But still!

I was looking through the site and there are quite a few games on there that I've been considering buying off of the internet for awhile. Rockman & Forte for SFC is one of them although I'm not really ready to dish out $69USD for it yet (I've seen it go for cheaper than that on ebay before...).

Problem is that everything they wrote about the 3DO is the honest truth.

(I have heard that the SSF2T port was excellent but... yeah... a handful of great games does not a successful console make.)
