I'll probably start seriously working on my grad school app this month. It's not due until October, but I'd rather not procrastinate too much on it.

It seems like January went by pretty quickly, but given that the rate at which time passes is pretty constant... it must be my perception of time that is skewed. The possibility of time actually passing quicker than it did the month before is very, very remote.

That's a common perception, Orlandu. When you're a kid, time seems to take forever to pass, and just one school day can seem like forever to wait. Even more so for a year.

Then, when you're an adult, the time flies by so fast

That's because:
a- Relatively, the time IS shorter compared with what you lived.
b- You stop caring about most of the things that made each day so special and long. When you are a child, there's no such thing as "just another day" because each day has its own details that make it unique and you wonder at everything. You see adventure in every corner. Playing videogames you could save an entire kingdom in an average of an hour, so it makes sense that many hours would be so long.
