It's more about a change in policy from when he went from solo developer of a small game to the next big thing with his own company.

My guess is that he still wants to add more stuff once the game is done. =p

I'm kinda pissed still that they took out the warps.

Though everyone who's been on in the last 24 hours has heard me bitching that I can't find my cave-house with all my stuff in it. Yeah, like...I need to have stuff to go make stuff, but in order to make stuff I need to find my cave-house, which I can't find...

minemapper is a great mapping tool for that might help you locate where your cave-house is. have you made a compass? do you have any idea where your house is in relation to spawn?

You might as well start over with a single tree and work your way up

One day, before we start a new map, you'll be surprised at your latest discovery (after having just died and losing ~10 diamonds among other things, leading to your aimless, frustration-based exploration), your old cave-house with all your stuff in it!

and then you'll realize your current base was literally within normal rendering distance of this cave

The warps were added by a mod, they were never part of the original minecraft.

It's a shame you have to venture off into new chunks in order to find lapis lazuli, especially with things like warping and speedy minecarts (yay mods) temporarily unavailable.

I'd not be opposed to rolling a new map on the jul server as long as the old one is backed up somewhere (or maybe the spawn point could be moved with some utility.) It'd be nice to have nearer areas that contain the new blocks. For now, everyone is headed out NW past Rockland to gather any kind of spruce logs or lapis lazuli.

'course, if the Bukkit guys could get their act together and push out a release, that'd be nice too.

Unfortunately, their hands are tied in some sort of licensing procedure to become the official Minecraft mod. It may be a while before something gets released.
