Testing stretch, made a few changes (bg color, font size and color in main table cell, vertical alignment).

Is that a fictional planet or something in the background? The outlines of the continents don't look like Earth.

I like it overall Not sure about the huge FB, EM, PR things though, they look a bit out of place, but otherwise I like it

It's Pandora (from Avatar). I couldn't find the screenshot I took from the movie as inspiration but the layout is based on the tablet Norm is holding in this screen. The screencap I got shows it from the other side with more detail but you can see where the big blocks come from. I'll post the other screen I used when I get home.

I was testing it out at 1080p on my new monitor and saw some really cool opportunities for screencaps. One I saw was that tablet and thought it would be a good idea for a post layout. I have another good image I might work into a random background selection to change it up.

Updated a few other details (more cellpadding for the post, new rank).

You should use brighter colors and large flashing GIFs. It'll get you a lot of fans. Your layout is your e-clothing and determines exactly how people will read you. Have you seen how popular I am? Ladies love me.


A few comments, and remember that I draw these based off of personal preference of layouts that I see and find ideal:

- Your text expands too far horizontally. To read your posts one has to move his/her eyes so much to read your post. Obviously, this varies by people's monitor and resolution, so there isn't much you can do about that. You could consider adding a bit of padding to the interior

- I think you need a little bit more spacing in the box. Your text brushes up against the borders which is uglyuglyugly! It's the lessser known, unsuccessful sequel to The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. You don't want to be associated with that movie.

- I don't think the vertical bar with your contact information is very... useful or pretty. I understand that it gives you a bit more colors to break up the monotony of your layout, but they just seem very dissonant.

- Speaking of useless bars, what's with the one up top? If your layout box was attached to it it'd probably look neat, but it just stands alone, mysteriously.

- I like the way the background floats. Aesthetically, it's a GENIUS idea, especially considering what your background is.

Edit: Heh, you touched on my second point while I was typing the post. I still think it's not quiiiiite enough, though.

In the screencap I used as reference, its a scroll bar. In this, its my experience. I'll need to make some adjustments as I get closer to my next level with it will be near 100%. It'll probably look funky because I was lazy with the coding.

edit: Adjusted the text at the bottom as well, it was too small and causing blurring. I made it align better at a more visible font size.

That's a lot better than what I remember seeing, so, ownin... though I still think the inner box would look better with a wider margin. Ideally, IMO, your text will line up around the planet's equator. It'd flow better that way!

I just noticed now that if you have two posts on a page, the background is the same between them... that's a neat effect. (I suppose Metal_Man's layout probably does the same thing, I just never noticed it there)

I like it... I agree that the big letter blocks seem a little dissonant, but then again I never saw Avatar, so if you're just being true to that it makes sense...

I think that's what they're supposed to be. The tablet he's holding is showing scans of the root and the squares all have 2 letter symbols with a name at the top. I believe they're a list of the minerals in the root that they're scanning, I'll have to check it again at home. I know I should have posted it but I wanted to see if anyone would guess the source first. But since it's only in one quick scene and not pertinent to the movie, I guess that was asking too much

OK, I played with the colors on the sidebar lettering and I've gotta say it looks better with them being not quite so pure. Basically I just de-saturated them a bit and came up with this (note I didn't adjust the AAing on the text)
