I'd get an iPad if it didn't cost too much... Though for it's size is rather buy a netbook instead.

Also, another iPod Touch post. Typing on this isn't bad at all once you adjust.

I owned one for a short while and played with quite a few in stores. They are very nice to have if you can afford it. Makes browsing the web easy when you're doing just about anything. Easier than a laptop when sitting in the living room and perfect for times when you don't have the space to use a laptop.

The price isn't that bad considering how much tablet PCs have gone for the past few years. But since it isn't a full PC and is basically a glorified smart phone without the phone, it is higher than usual. Doesn't make them any less fun. Battery life is decent. When using games or watching videos, it drops significantly but general browsing or text reading it lasts a long while.

I was thinking of making a topic like this when I saw my mom got an iPad from her work.

But, derp, it was a pain in the ass to use it. I guess I'm not used to the whole touch screen phone/etc thingy, but I found it rather anckward to use it so I gave up after trying to select a field to type in three times and it instead pressed the "reply" button for me! :specialed:

I'd go the Touch route myself if I wanted to mess with iOS.

iPad's are pretty neat though. I'd go with one if the price was... significantly less. :\

Honestly, the route I wanted to go was iPhone without contract... But that's even more expensive than the iPad!

The iPod Touch is practically a smartphone on a landline, with the right setup... except it's not tied down to a phone jack and you can use it anywhere (although non-internet stuff only without a connection). It's mostly replaced my dedicated cell phone for caps, at least...

There were slow (300 and 1200 bps) modems for the Commodore 64, but who knows if they work with the modern Internet I guess if you have a dialup ISP, maybe.
