The Halberd-class assault cruiser touches down outside the city on Exploding DogCatgirlLand. The ramp on the underside lowers and out march fifty heavily-armed troopers, each with a super-charged stun blaster, and twenty battle-ready sentrybots.

"All right, men. We still don't know what kinds of defenses they have, so be cautious. The sentrybots will go in front with shields on max and stun beams charged. Shoot anything that looks dangerous. The sentrybots are also equipped with EMP wave emitters, so use those if necessary. I want this clean and I want this efficient. Is that understood?"


"Sir, yes sir."


"Move out."

The troops begin to march into the city with a curtain of green light in front of them. They are prepared to stun down anyone who poses a thread and use an EMP on anything that looks like an IED.

The cloaked figure held 2 large, Diamond-cut gems, 1 red one, and 1 yellow one. He started walking towards the front door.

(Radio) "Also, Attach the Pure Uranium Focusing Crystal to the lasers, and split the territory. I would like to cut off Imajin's armies."

Then there was an earthquake, as the large dark red land mass split in half, the top half floated slightly away, while the bottom stayed connected... The flag of the revolutionists waved freely in their new capital

The troopers continue marching through the streets. Not a shot is fired. It isn't needed. If any people are ever seen, they are ducking behind a corner or into a building. Dead animals lay strewn across the ground, killed in mid-step


"I hate doing it this way, but we have to. C'mon, men, we're approaching the town hall building."

In front of the squad looms the tall central building of the mayor.


"This is the origin of the missiles launched at Lolland, sir. The scanner shows a high amount of gun powder and ammunitions inside."

"Doesn't sound like they're too friendly. We're blasting out way in."

At the commander's signal, a pair of troopers stealthily run up to the door around the energy shields. An explosive charge is set on either side of the double doors, and the troopers retreat back behind the wall of energy.


"On the count of three. One... two... three."

"Intersting. What's the status of Cirvante's island?"
VP: "Unknown, sir. They haven't responded to any of our attacks, or those of the other nations. They're just sitting there..."
"Keep a sharp eye on them, I doubt it's over, though we can always hope. Now, about the northern island, you say it's split in two? What happened?"
VP: "Apparently the rebels caused a massive earthquake that split the island across the middle, with the rebels' half drifting in a south-east direction."
"Will the earthquake effect us at all?"
VP: "Doubtful, sir. Most likely any tidal waves will be dispersed by the long distance and the other landmasses. The earthquake was not large enough to reach us directly."
"Good. What about the nations closest? Will Island Ghost House need any assistance?"
VP: "Unknown, sir. We're waiting for them to respond to our offer of assistance."
"Alright. And the eastern landmass?"
VP: "Our spies have been unable to gather any intelligence of worth so far."

OOC: Fucking damn it, guys! The power goes out for a bit and you already basically nuked my island to hell and back. Perhaps this should be turn-based to avoid the same people acting several times in a row...

First action, covering until Imajin's reply at 09-30-07 11:20:44 PM:

Several explosions were heard throughout the facility.

"What was that?! The laser impact alone couldn't have caused this..."

It appears the captured MASC-01 fighter had a built-in tamper-proof mechanism, causing their self-destruction. Since it was a clean-room disassembly, however, damage and casualties were minimal. There was also another laser impact, though it was uncharged, so the damage was fully negated.

"Damage report."

Sectors B-16 to B-22 were affected by the MASC explosion. Most of the damage is concentrated in the cleanrooms: structural integrity varies from 31.8 to 63.3%. Estimated repair time: Three days four hours. The previous laser impact had penetrated part of the shield: energies were increased to sixty percent, resulting in the prevention of any further damages. Outer Bendezium shell integrity: 88.7%. Inner Bendezium shell integrity: 93.2%. Repairs are already underway, and will complete in nineteen hours.

"Hmm. It appears I have underestimated their combined strength. A mistake that hopefully will not happen again."

Security breach detected. The video feeds from sectors C-12 and D-13a have been compromised. The attacker's signals can be traced to Innerpeace. The footage is scrambled, however, so by the time they find out about our recent projects, it will be too late.

"Understood. Scramble the data on all video and audio feeds twice more. Stay alert for any signals coming from other countries, and block them when appropriate. Bring the lower sectors on-screen. The launch timetables have been moved up."

Meanwhile, in the deeper sections of the Maëlstrom...

"Doctor Isaacs. Are the prototypes ready for field testing?"

"We are still working out some... issues regarding their weapon systems. For the most part, SHA-301-SDa and SHA-304-REd are ready for testing. SHA-302-BWb is still incomplete, though it shows major promise. We may be able to have them all up and ready for combat in three weeks' time."

"And the Nirvana series?"

"Those are still highly experimental, sire. Only one model is even nearing prototype status. The SHA-310-CRh is showing tremendous promise for use as a defensible space outpost."

"Fair enough. Stay alert for further orders. Cirvante out."

A screen of the launch bay appeared in Cirvante's monitor.

"Admiral Serges. Is the Heimdallr ready to launch?"

"Aye, sir. Launch sequence will begin in 30 minutes. The Gjallarhorn will be released at 820 kilometers above the atmosphere."

"Excellent. I trust the newest security measures are in place?"

"Experimental null-field generator and cloaking devices are fully installed. Awaiting your orders, sire."

"Good. With both the Gjällarhorn and Heimdallr in orbit, we can finally secure a foothold in the space front. Glory to the SHION."

Suddenly, a warning blare sounded.

"?!"

Warning: Enemy armaments approaching. Multiple missiles from Innerpeace, Arcadian and XP-English forces. Total amount of projectiles is estimated in the low hundreds.

"They just keep coming... Fire the Hornet's Nests. They should be enough to take out all the missiles. But just in case, raise shields to seventy percent."

A myriad of smaller missiles were sent to intercept the larger missiles coming at the Maëlstrom from all sides.


Second action, covering until Sukasa's reply at 10-01-07 01:05:40 AM:

"Report."

All missiles succesfully intercepted, and one has apparently been sent off-course. No further damage has been sustained.

"Any word from the rebels?"

No response as of yet. ?!?

"What's wrong?!"

It seems they did respond after all...Incoming laser strike!

"Shields at 80%! Deploy the secondary shields... ugh!"

Main shields at 72% and holding. Secondary shields at 33% and dropping. Some damage has been sustained, but it shouldn't be anything too serious.

"Damage report!"

Secondary shields are out of commission and will continue to be for at least a day.
Outer Bendezium shell's repairs were not complete and as such suffered most of the damage. Structural integrity at 80.3%. Inner Bendezium shell remains intact.

"These constant laser strikes are becoming annoying... Doctor Isaacs!"

"'Yes, herr Meister?"

"Is the null-field generator ready yet?"

"Affirmative. Gathering up enough power to operate it, however, will take at least thirty-two hours."

"Excellent. Get me Admiral Serges."

"Sir!"

"There can be no more delays. Launch the Gjällarhorn at once! We are under high alert: other nations are probably aware of this project as well. Therefore, I must ask you to deploy your cloaking shields the moment you clear Earth's gravity field."

Incoming report: Super-intelligent animal test subjects from another nation's experiments have organized and formed their own nation: Exploding DogLand. While their armaments are primitive, they might still have some tricks up their sleeves.

"Leave them alone for now. The Coalition is strong enough as-is; let's not give them a new member."

Understood.

At that moment, a huge hole opened up in the Maelstrom's metal frame: a large spacecraft could be seen rising out of the opening, carrying a huge payload on its back. The Gjällarhorn had been launched.

Alert: Strange energy readings located to the far eastern regions. The energy type seems to match that of the aurora borealis.

"The Northern Lights? In the east? On screen."

A huge purple, rainbow-animated energy field could be seen covering a great part of the eastern hemisphere. The crew of the Heimdallr looked down at the earth, astonished: the purple lights engulfed a large mass of the planet, approximately 12 percent.

"Sir! I think you might wanna see this!"

"WHAT?! Not good! Why the hell are THEY involved?!"

It seems the other nations are also aware of this phenomenon. Perhaps this will divert their attention from attacking us... Should we hail them?

"No, not yet. If they only knew what they're up against... Hail all our staff. Our priorities have changed: Our defense takes precedence over world conquest now. Contact the Arcaidan expedition and tell them to hold their position."

"Doctor Isaacs."

"Hmm?"

"We can no longer wait for the Nirvana series' completion. Divert all your resources to the completion of the Shinten-mon. You have one week to get them all into working order. Have I made myself clear?"

"Yes, herr Meister."


Third action, covering everything after that until this moment:

Received report from the Arcadian expedition: a second wave of missiles have been fired from both Arcadia and Innerpeace at the Maelstrom.

"Not to worry, the Hornet's Nests--"

Warning: Huge energy readings detected.

"XP-England's lunar phaser again?"

Negative. The readings are much stronger than anything XP-England has thrown at us.

"Is the Gjällarhorn in its range?"

"Negative. Th spacecraft Heimdallr cleared the atmosphere 10 minutes ago, and is in full cloaking mode. Deployment will commence in half an hour.

"Sir!"

"Admiral Serges! What the hell is that thing?!"

"Those two orbital cannons are about to fire!"

"Have you any idea who they belong to?"

"Arcadian forces have been seen patrolling the area, sir."

"I see... So the missile batteries were only a diversion to stall for time... Remain cloaked until further notice!"

"Yes, sir!"

Cirvante was starting to look more uneasy by the second. The Maëlstrom's shields were still damaged from last time, and even at 100%, it would suffer some significant damages. There was but one option left now..."

"Doctor Isaacs. Is the null-field generator fully charged?"

"It's only at 82.6 percent. It still needs about two hours--"

"We'll have to make do. Activate it, now!"

"But sir--"

"That's an order, Isaacs!"

Null-field generator activated. All personnel, clear the external areas.

The lights started to flicker, it was evident the null generator consumed much power. Suddenly, the Arcadian cannons fired two huge lasers at the Maëlstrom. A blinding white flash could be seen from space. After the smoke cleared, the Maëlstrom survived, completely intact. The experiment had succeeded.

"Well, that's certainly a relief. As soon as the generator cools down, begin recharging immediately."

Incoming report: Lolland is under attack by what appears to be some rudimentary nuclear devices launched by... Exploding DogLand. Arcadian weapons have also been located near the vicinity. Should we intervene?

"Negative. Let them destroy themselves. Our priorities are defense, remember?"

Incoming report: A seismic wave generator was used by the rebel armies to separate the southern region from the mainland. It looks like the Re-Unified Empire isn't so unified now...

"Interesting... We shall wait to see the results of this development. Keep me posted."

"Any further news from the other nations?"

Innerpeace has completed its newest project, code-named 'GENESIS', and has sent several of these units to the remaining nations of the Coalition, including Arcadia and Freedonia. It is possible they have finally cracked the stolen footage from our labs and derived their experiments from that.

The Freedonian government, with the aid of Innerpeace troops, are currently taking care of the fallout from last month's missile strike. It is evident that said nation is in a severely weakened state, though with the aid it is receiving from the Coalition, it most likely won't be much longer.

The Gjällarhorn was deployed at 1320 hours this afternoon. Its first scans show the existence of enemy bases scattered across the atmosphere. XP-England's lunar base has been located, as have the Arcadian orbital bombardment platforms and a moon-like structure code-named 'Death Egg', identified as belonging to the Coalition.

"Contact Admiral Serges. Tell him to prep the Gjällarhorn for firing, and activate the perimeter defenses in case a stray fighter comes too close. As for the Heimdallr, remain cloaked."

"Sir! The Shiten-mon have been succesfully completed, and are awaiting deployment!

"It seems the real war has only just begun..."

VP: "Sir! The Maelstrom has responded! Apparently they've developed a new defense technology that renders almost all attack impervious! Intelligence reports it's called the "Null-Field Generator" but they don't know much about it, apparently Cirvante has extremely tight security measures."

"Bah, this is ... fine, fine. I guess we really have to go all out then. How many of 'them' do we have?"

VP: "65, sir."

"65? How did you get so many in such a short amount of time?"

VP: "Well, we burned out a few relays but we were able to increase production by over 500%"

"As long as there was no permanent damage to any of our facilities?"

VP: "Negative, sir. What little damage there is can be easily repaired, and..."


*beep beep beep*

Incoming message from SS1.

"This better be good news..."

"Sir, you're not going to like this... but we've detected some sort of vessel that was launched from the Maelstrom, and is somewhere nearby in space. It has a very sophisticated cloaking technology and we are unable to pinpoint its location at this time. Recommend we launch defense craft immediately."

"Alright, do it. Are the orbital cannons ready to fire?"

"Yes, sir. All of them are fully charged and ready to fire at any time."

"Fire them then! All cannons! Increase their power to 110% and FIRE!"

"Aye, sir! Firing all cannons!"


Moments later, all 8 orbital cannons fired at Cirvante's Maelstrom, using as much power as they could get.


"How long can we sustain the beam at 110% intensity?"

"I'd estimate about 3 minutes sir, although we've never tested them above 90%."

"Well then keep them going for 5! I want this Maelstrom destroyed damn it!"
"Aye, sir.."


8 scarlet beams smashed into the Maelstrom, and pounded it for almost 5 minutes solid.


"That's all we can give you sir. Two of them were minorly damaged by the barrage, but it shouldn't take longer than a couple of hours to repair them."

"Good, let's hope this does SOME damage."

*the screen clicks off*

"Jazen, send a message to the eastern landmass, ask them who they are and if they're going to help us. I don't like mysteries."

VP: "Aye, sir."

"Also, send a message to all coalition members advising them to prepare to bring all offensive weapons possible to bear on the Maelstrom, I don't know how much damage, if any, we did to them and I expect there will be a counter-offensive."

VP: "Well, their invasion force seems to have stopped for the moment, though no one knows why. It could be the result of the eastern landmass' appearence."

"Hmm, well send the message anyway. Also, divert all forces from the offensive on the nation of R-U. and have them report back to the Arcadian mainland, this Maelstrom is a much bigger threat than they are. Also, send a message to the rebels and ask if they wish to ally with us for the time being against the Maelstrom."

VP: "Aye, sir. The messages shall be sent."

"One last thing, send a message to 'PoZealand' asking if they're going to help as well; in fact, send one to MM as well."

VP: "Aye, sir."

"Dismissed."

"That is irrelevant as of now. The war against Maelstrom is a distraction, and we have been too weakened to continue the war against Island Ghost House- thankfully, they seem to have entirely forgotten about our short-lived attack against them."

"Yes, sir. In fact, sir, they seem to be moving against England XP to their south, ignoring us entirely."

"That is to be praised... we must focus all our efforts on rebuilding, and re-conquering the rebels. Move parts of the fleet to protect and aid in the reconnection of the rebellious lands to the mainland, and then focus on rebuilding- how much would you estimate is lost?"

"A large portion of our industrial capacity was destroyed with City 2 in the antimatter explosion. Most of the rest of the losses were in numbers, though several major transportation arteries remain severed. Also, the farmlands of the Southern Region are of course lost."

"Great losses to be sure... continue the propaganda machine going about the war with Maelstrom, but move actual focus to defense on that front."

Incoming report from Gjällarhorn: Arcadia has increased their presence above. It is possible they detected our launch. They're still in the dark about our location, though.

"Good. We shall use this to our advantage. If any enemies enter our airspace, pick them off little by little. We mustn's allow them to learn of our location through deductive methods. Charge the Ragnarök Cannon to 20 percent and stand by. We are to use this only if we are attacked first.'

"Sir! The Arcadian cannons are preparing to fire again! And it looks like this time there's more of them!"

"What?! How did they recharge so quickly?! Shields at full power! Isaacs!

"Herr Meister?"

"Do we have enough power to sustain a null-field for at least 5 minutes?"

"Not likely. The generator is only at 41.7% charge. You could get 3 minutes out of it, at the most."

"Attention all units: Brace for extended laser impact!"

The eight lasers slammed into the Maëlstrom for several minutes. Luckily, the null-field generator was deployed in time, and the shields absorbed the remaining fire after the generator wore out. There was, however, a bit of damage.

"Damage and casualty report!"

Casualties are numbered at about five hundred seventy dead, two thousand four hundred ninety wounded. Main shields are damaged, and can only go up to 33%. Secondary shields are completely destroyed. Outer Benezium shell is at 76.8% structural integrity. Inner Bendezium shell is at 84.9% structural integrity. Outer Cordite core is at 92.6% structural integrity. Damage was widespread; due to this, repairs might take up to nine days.

"Hurrrr.... Arcadia...! Hail the Arcadian leader! I want him on this channel at once!"

The Arcadian President appeared on the screen.

"Cease your attacks on the Maëlstrom immediately! We are no longer invading your countries! If you value your lives, you will focus on your homelands' defense rather than offense! The Sanctuary is--!"

The transmission got cut off abruptly. Cirvante slammed down his fist.

"Damn it! Raise the Ragnarök to 50 percent and stand by for further orders!"

Incoming report: The Re-Unified Empire has diverted its attention from the war to attend to its internal revolution. They are no longer a threat for the time being. Response?

"Perfect. Hail the Re-Unified Empire. Perhaps we could be of some assistance.'

"Supreme Chairman Imajin. I have contacted you to propose a cease-fire between us. In return, the SHION is willing to overlook our intentions of conquest, and will send supplies and armed forces to aid you in suppressing the rebellion."

Incoming alert from Gjällarhorn! The Freedonian Death Egg initiated a colony drop and is hurtling towards home base as we speak! Estimated impact time: 27 minutes 53 seconds!

"Damn it, Admiral! Fire the Ragnarök at the dropping Death Egg! If it collides, it won't just destroy us, but affect other nations as well!

"Firing now, sir."

As the Death Egg continued hurtling towards the surface, a big purple beam shot down in its direction. Direct hit!

"Sigh. That's a relief. Even if it didn't vaporize, the pieces will most likely burn on re-entry and become harmless."

"Remain on high alert. The Arcadians have most likely found our location now."

"Apparently this new landmass has them scared. Cease attacks for now, but be on the lookout for tr-"

"Oh hell, put them through."

"Sir! The Maelstrom ship has been found! They decloaked and fired a massive energy beam at the Death Egg! Almost 20% of the Death Egg was vaporized on impact! Currently it has split into two pieces, one of them still on course for the Maelstrom. The other piece comprised about 22% of the original hull and will impact the ocean approximately 94km north of the Maelstrom."

"Hm, monitor that ship, I want it in our sights at all times!"

"Ah, yes, well, we have the newest spy sattelite photographs as well, from the Death Egg."

The photos, in grainy black and white, were laid out on the table, showing the Death Egg being annihilated by a massive beam.

"This is astounding... I believe we shall take the Maelstrom up on their offer. Prepare a suitably... diplomatic message for them."

"Yes, sir. And I assume all war propaganda shall be ceased?"

"Of course."

Central Square, in front of the ornate and Roman-esque Palace of the Supreme Council, which looks vaguely like a cross between the US Capitol, Boston South Station, the Chrysler Building, and the Pantheon. A massive banner, showing the Supreme Chairman in a threatening pose, with the words "SUPPORT THE EMPIRE! DOWN WITH THE MAELSTROM" is hastily rolled up, and replaced with a new banner, again with the Supreme Chairman in a more focused pose, saying "REMAIN LOYAL - SUPREME CHAIRMAN IMAJIN IS WATCHING YOU".
