Do you put up holiday/Xmas lights around your home (outside and/or indoors)?

Currently I'm helping to put up lights outside. The palm trees are fighting back.

I'm in an apartment, so there's no "outside" really (I don't have a balcony or anything like that). In here there's a string of lights and an artificial tree up.

Only ever indoors. I don't think we've ever put lights on the outside of the house.

Mostly inside, but we decorate so people from the outside can see it too. It looks really nice from outside this year.

Nope, I'm in an apartment, so we don't put any Xmas lights outside at all. Just an artificial tree with LED lights inside

We were going to put lights on our balcony, but there isn't an outlet outside and we don't want to leave the balcony doors open, even ajar.

Some inside, others on the balcony.

Since I live in the third story I can't really put them anywhere else.

Our decorations are 100% indoors, simply because there aren't any convenient outlets or anything to plug lights into from the outside.

We tried icicle-styled lights a decade ago, but those were such a huge pain in the ass, we decided not to do them again. (Our roof is two stories up, we had to hang out a few windows and plug them into the flood lights. Then one of the strands went out. :\)

Though, around campus, I'm seeing people stringing lights along their dorm windows, so that's pretty cool. I don't put any up because I'm leaving for winter break in a week, so there's literally no point to it, whatsoever.

We used to decorate a lot. Had entire layouts for our yard back in Portland. But now we only have a tree and some inside decor. Not a lot else.

I really do miss the entire house being alight, though. At least the old house. It was an awesome place!

I have 8 strings of LED lights of various colours connected to my parallel port, which are controlled using a Wiimote with a program I wrote. At night they provide a comfortable amount of light to see without it being too bright. They also flash in sync with music.

The other day I also went out and got a plain white string to put on the kitchen ceiling, and took another I had laying around to put in the hallway, so that just about the entire apartment can be lit at night just bright enough to see, using LEDs for their high efficiency.

The first string I bought though had to be exchanged because they had that awful 60hz flicker burning my eyes. The old one also has like 18 bulbs burned out, which is funny considering they're supposed to last like 10 years...

Used to celebrate Christmas, with lights and everything. Then every Christmas since about 5 years ago, people began dying, losing jobs, and now this one, losing houses.

Forget Christmas lights now. I don't want any more death or mayhem to happen to me and my family.

I just finished putting the last of the lights up outside my house. They're mostly mini-lights, with LEDs on the house.

They're also all connected to the light sockets, so it's just one light switch for everything. :smugdra:

Woah, Shadic! That's pretty neat!

I'll probably take a picture of our lights when the artificial tree goes up. Also we have homemade lawn ornaments that are really well-done.

I knew I wasn't the only one who sees this! On pretty much all the LED lights around here, I can see that damn flicker. Everyone else thinks I'm crazy when I point it out...

When we went outside to check out the lights, the neighbor across the street had out a pumpkin on top of one of the hedges. It looked good there and it was pretty funny.
