Victory for California dems this time around. Nice, although unfortunate that it was mostly contained to places like California.

I just don't see how the Republicans taking over the House is going to result in anything new. The "big-shot" Republicans are a lot of the same ones that were in the party 16 years ago.

The only thing we're going to get is a deadlock in Congress. The only hope, really, is to nuke that fucking filibuster in the Senate and we might just get something done.

Murray is winning, but it's 51% to 49% so Rossi could still come out ahead.

Sadly, it looks like Washington voters largely went against the taxes to fund healthcare and education and whatnot. And I'm like, how do you expect the government to fund anything without taxes? I guess they like the system where richer people get better healthcare and whatnot. Sheesh.

Yeah. I'd call it a Dem win if I was on TV but obviously it's still "too close to call". Save the drama for another day I guess.

Alaska looks like an absolute mess.

I haven't payed any attention to this years elections; of course, I'm not old enough to vote yet so yeah.

I voted, but then I realized yet again that it doesn't really do a fucking thing for anything, so I wonder why I even bothered in the first place.

Sure it does. It's always funny, everyone ends up thinking that and you end up with 10000+ who never vote because it "won't matter".

I tried to explain to others that thing, but it seems like no one is properly taught the meaning of a vote in school, so they aren't going to believe me either.

Oh I had it drilled into my head alright to vote. I'm voting, but it's like, I don't believe that any of the candidates are going to fix anything around here and they're all going to do a pretty nasty amount of damage.

It was like deciding if I wanted to get hit with a bo staff or a wooden bat.

I'm extraordinarily bummed that most everything I voted for lost/didn't pass, sometimes by a very large margin.

It was very interesting reading the arguments for/against each item on the ballot, and who supported said arguments. In many cases, you could vote based on that alone. Take the two liquor bills, for example (which would have taken liquor sales out of the state's hands and allowed a wide variety of stores to sell it): those in favor were a handful of CEOs and business owners that would profit from liquor sales, while those opposed were police officers, nurses, doctors, and people affected by drunk drivers. Gee, tough choice there!

Yeah. These things are totally going to fix themselves without any monetary assistance.

Basically, everything that so much hinted at increased (or even sustained!) taxes was flushed down the crapper. Game over, Washington. Enjoy your massive budget deficit next year, and don't come crying to me when everything falls apart.

I've voted in 2006, 2008, and 2010. The first election I cared enough about was 2004, but I was only 17 then.
