Different websites are down for different people. The sucky thing is that I can't access my website, and I was going to do a little work on it.

So yeah, isn't this a pain?

http://snesmusic.jukor.net/ is down too. Life is rather shitty sometimes.

Yeah, does anyone know why? Project Aon was down for Schala and I, Jul was down for Anya and Shadic, and so on. It seems like an odd thing.

I couldn't get on Jul, so I watched an episode of Primeval and went to bed.

Jul was the only website that I had a problem with but then again, I didn't check many other sites.

Actually, I think gamercard.net (where my gamer card is hosted) is still down.

I wonder if it has to do with our net provider?

My router has been giving me issues recently, hiccuping a bunch. I'm ready to bust out my ethernet cable and just plug it back into my laptop so I can have stable lines again.

E: just did it because the connection hiccuped twice while making this post.

Last night a lot of sites were down indeed. I am wondering if possibly the systems DDoS'd each other (as in the DNS nets).

That might be why I couldn't get to demono... er, a completely legitimate non-torrent-related site earlier tonight. Hadn't seen them down before and figured I'd hear about it if it were anything more than a glitch.

Cox cable used to be horrible during peak times. Back in the I1 era, any time during 5pm to about 8pm it would slow to a crawl. My typical download speeds would be 200-300 kbps, but during this time frame they would slow to 40-50 kbps. This was also back in the Napster days so I remember vividly the actual download speeds.

I remember at New Horizons (where my father worked and I played on computers all day) they had a T1 connection and I would see download speeds of up to 1.5mbps when downloading from certain sites like Microsoft.

Nowadays, Cox is pretty reliable. We had an issue earlier this year where our signal strength took a shit. The digital cable channels would stutter and freeze randomly about once or twice a minute. They tried a signal booster which helped a little but screwed up our internet service so they had to split the cable modem off the booster and have it separate, they said that the cable modem doesn't use the same signal so it didn't need to be boosted. Since then, everything has been fine.

Exact same thing happened to me on Comcast over the summer. TV signal took a shit, internet went out 10 times a day, it was a mess. We already had the signal booster on the line though, which is good for the TVs (TVs only need a downstream signal), but boosters completely kill the return signal (when the modem sends data out), which was causing our connectivity problems.

We also had a similar solution: not only did we upgrade to new equipment (from a linksys modem/router in one gateway to a seperate modem and router, plus now we have wireless N), but the technician split our line before the booster, and ran that directly to the modem, which completely fixed all of our internet problems. Our TV signal is still rubbish from time to time, but at least the internet is always working now.

Yeah, I was having DNS issues too... completely down for a while. Wonder what that was about. Seems to be working again now.

Couldn't access Jul right away when I got home. Other sites worked fine.
