Long story short, the culprit behind the agonizingly-long 12+ second page load times seems to be the fact that some of those pages are really long. Doing all of the profiling crap was mostly worthless (and yes, it really did take nearly a week to get a useful response out of #mediawiki -- thanks guys) ...

In any case, the big issue here is that (surprise) pages are too long. If you remember my comment about splitting up big pages, like Kirby's Adventure, I think I actually voiced this kind of thought before, but now it seems like it's a requirement if we want to continue.

Of course, we could always just forget about it and stick with the current server.


This is day 19 of the VPS. Progress has been slow and not really gotten anywhere over the past several days. So... what do you think should be done?

I'd have to say 'new server'. If the pages really are loading that slow because of the length, and you are able to get a new server to alleviate the problem, go ahead.

(I don't think that Jul and TCRF is running on the same VPS, right?)

TCRF and Jul are currently running on the same server (DreamHost). TCRF is moving to the new one.

I like to vote in polls! I'd go with the new server. Pages can be split, and it's better that way than people getting frustrated over all kinds of 500s.

You should know this already, but I'm delaying the move further.

One, I'm going to be busy and away for quite some time. (Yeah, again. Ugh.)

Second, there's a downtime planned for the server hosting my VPS for an hour. Not a big deal, but having that happen in the middle of a transfer would be pretty terrible.
