There's the Griffith Observatory, the museums (Getty, Getty Villa, Museum of Modern Art, etc), the beaches and piers (Santa Monica for sure), the little gems throughout LA and Hollywood (Pink's hot dogs, Amoeba music, etc), the Walk of Fame and all kinds of other touristy stuff in Hollywood around Sunset and Vine, Universal Studios, Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, tons of sports teams to see, all kinds of scavenger hunts and geocaching events set up that I want to try, lots of dinner theaters (Midieval Times!!!!) and even themed dinner cruises that I've heard about.
And, of course, people watching. Endlessly entertaining if you're in the right place. 
Oh yeah, I forgot about lots of those. I blame having visited a number of those eons ago.
