Honestly, I have no idea what I would do. And its really funny that you post this because my mother-in-law just won $1000 playing quarter video poker tonight. Thats a pretty big win for here. Who knows what she'll do with it. I would most likely put it towards a credit card and maybe keep some of it for a nice dinner or something. That or buy a new PC.

My dad won something like $1000 USD in Michigan from a slot machine. He was surprisingly generous with it.

I would just put it into my checking account and put it towards bills. The two major things I have going on are my car (which won't be paid off until 2012) and home repairs.

Semi-related, but that's why I prefer getting gift cards for my birthday and Christmas to money because if I get money, it will just go towards bills. If I get a gift card, then I'm forced to spend it in a store and I will be more likely to buy something special that I wouldn't have otherwise.

Put it toward replacing this 8-year-old desktop. Probably would need closer to 2000 for that though (not cheaping out on parts again), and so would put it in the bank with the intention of saving it for that, and end up wasting it.

Could also use it to move and put it toward a new apartment... could get to a nearby city for cheap, problem is the cost to stay there.

Am I the only one who would say "buy food, clothes, general supplies like toilet paper, toothpaste etc in bulk" so that when I get my pay check I can actually go "horray I'm actually getting £500 for this month instead of £200!"?
