Transforming cats into robots since 1989!

It has been almost exactly a year ago since I have first joined Jul.

To be honest, it really does feel like I have been here longer (and the same being expressed by some others as well who have joined shortly before me.) There isn't that much I can say, other than thanks for allowing me to be a part of this community.

I have to especially thank Supakitsune and cpubasic13 for getting me to join in the first place (after I lurked in #x for a little while.) Without them, well... I probably wouldn't be here in the first place.

Here's to another year on Jul!

Yep, I keep thinking you joined before me, even though you didn't

Similarly, I have a hard time imagining Jul without Schala, Rick, Zero One, krutomisi, and other users who came after me.

Congratulations on 1 year, Lain! *throws a cake at Lain and gives him some furry cute kittens*

I have a hard time imagining that I've only been here since February. It feels like it should've been a long number.

And seriously, how did I get all talky here? I usually get cliqued out or forum shy and don't talk much.

Anyway, happy Juliversary!

I usually tend to think of all users registered prior to me as of regulars, even if they registered just a few months before me

Anyway, congratulations!

Holy crap. I never noticed you joined only a year ago. I though you were here for much longer somehow.

Happy anniversary, Lain!

I've got the same feeling, and I've only been here for 5 months O.o

Coming up on year 6, and feels like it should be--wait, not really. 2004 is pretty much old as *bleep* as far as I go, since the eras of me go as such:

1998-2000: Prehistoric era (I browse the internet, see eBay and bid on stuff, see websites for products, not much else)
2000-2002: Stone Age (I join two forums, one being VGF, the other being the primitive Sonic 2 Beta Ezboard)
2002-2004: Bronze Age (I join the IRC chat that would become my 'center' upon the internet, finally establish an identity to speak of, and cap it off with joining here and a few other places)
2004-2006: Iron Age (I begin to create things of my own and post them. They aren't terribly good, but they exist.)
2006-2008: Early Gunpowder age (No dark ages, so to speak; skips over to this, as my work starts to jump up in quality, as does my control/presence on the web)
2008-2010: Early modern age (My future works will probably be superior, but I've worked out the bugs that my previous age had, and it feels like I'm on the verge of further stuff that will begin a new age, with the end of this year...)

I identify the Acmlm boards as being the edge of the Bronze Age, as joining them was a big step forward in actually having a visible identity on the web. So, happy anniversary Lain, and a toast to many more.

As for me:

1987-1995: What's an Internet?
1996-2000: I've used the Internet, but rarely.
2001: I started becoming an Internet addict, but I still just browsed the Web and didn't participate in discussion. I did discover message boards and I started getting interested in them.
2002: I posted for the first time, revealing my online persona to people in the Nintendo and ROM hacking worlds. I became staff at several boards, although not Acmlm's I1, and made my own boards. I was pretty new and learned a lot.
2003: I finally started using AIM and IRC. My first IRC channel was #acmlm. I never did much with IRC in my early days, mostly only going to #acmlm and #PureZC for years.
2004: Something snapped and I turned into a mean dumbass who flamed people over music, weather, political beliefs, and operating system and other software preferences. I had a hard time keeping friends then. I did create a short-lived King's Quest Web site that I was lazy about and had really bad fan fiction.
2005: I was still a moron, but I spent a lot more time reading Everything2.com and Wikipedia and lurking at several boards and little time interacting. I did try to launch a board, but people wanted to hack it, so I closed it quickly.
2006: Most of this year was spent on the run from people. I had a grudge against Xkeeper, mostly because of some guy named "stag019", at the time
2007: I returned to Acmlm's and in my mind forgave Xkeeper for everything, instead joining his faction at Acmlm's Board II. I posted way too much and didn't talk to too many people otherwise.
2008: I was gone from the Acmlm's community, although I did start talking to Schala a lot on AIM. Mostly, I posted at Lego, Lone Wolf, and Sierra communities.
2009: I got back into ROM hacking and released TKB Super Mario Bros., then I joined Jul again in September. I started out overposting and a lot of people got angry at me. Later, I posted less and went on Onyx's Livestreams a lot instead.
2010: This is when I really became a respected and integral part of the Jul community. I started using IRC a lot, and later Twitter. Sure, I had bad times, but I have so many friends here now *hugs everyone at Jul*

1994-2000: I could barely use a computer, much less the Internet. And we were still running on dial-up.
2001-2009: I started regularly using the Internet for things like YouTube and a few webcomics. I never did anything worthwhile. I made several attempts at creating a website, but nohing solid happened until the first version of Chozodia in 2008. Afterwards, I learned about hacking Super Metroid and Mario 64, but they never really went anywhere.
2010: Joined Jul to get back into hacking Mario 64 and found that I loved
the community Started using IRC for the first time and then joined LMB. I also leaned how to use Blender thanks to people here

Jul seems to be the absolute high point of my Internet usage

I guess I could try piecing together a timeline of my internet activities.

1997 - 1998: Started to play around with computers at the elementary school, browsing websites and stuff as well.
1999: Got our first computer. t'was an NEC. (Something close to what was in the first Digimon movie, too.)
2000 - 2002: Only browsed a little, didn't know too much (plus I couldn't really browse without my parent's permission.) Started using MSN Messenger at this time.
2003 - 2004: Started to get more into the internet. Made websites and stuff.
2004 - 2005: Joined my first forum, "Lonely Anime". Not sure how I found it though. It died about a year after I joined, and boardhopped since then.
2006: Joined Megatokyo Forums for a short time, also got hosting from several of those various hosting sites that gave you a subdomain for free.
2007: Started having my own (real) blog, but kind of failed (I guess.) Not too much forum activity here.
2008 - 2009: Started using IRC for real (used a program called "Hikari" around 2003-2004 but eventually stopped)
Late 2009: joined Jul in October, and used BadnikNET for about a month (August), stopped for a month (September), and then started back up again in October before I joined Jul.
Late 2010: 1st “Lainversary” at Jul.

Well, when I started in 1997 I was hanging around NES websites and downloading roms. Suffice it to say that I was a fast learner; I knew more about search engines than my friends, for one thing.

Oh, and congrats.
