I knew about this fund raiser last year but never took part. This year I finally got off my lazy ass and signed up. It was really easy to.

For those who don't know, Extra Life gets gamers to raise money for their local children's hospital. Mine is for the hospital in Miami. Now on October 16th, gamers who partake in the fund raiser will be playing video games for 24 hours. This isn't necessary but I think it's pretty neat. If one person can at least get a $1 an hour, that would be $24 dollars for their hospital.

From now until then, we can raise money, so it doesn't have to be only on the 16th.

So with that said, if anyone wishes to donate, even if it's a dollar, that would be really awesome. And/or you can sign up as well and join in all the gaming fun while doing something good.

This link should take you to my donation page and just let me know if you run into an problems.

Sorry to self promote, but I think this is a good cause and many other podcats and gaming websites are taking part. Might try to do a contest with the site that I write for as well, just not sure yet.

So yea, thanks for reading me ramble and so this isn't just a self promoting thread, has anyone here done anything for charity? I also walk for asthma. Did it last year for the first time and I plan on doing it this year as well.

I've put money into donation boxes occasionally. Usually loose change. I haven't done any of those fundraisers though.

I have a friend who's done something like this in the past. I always thought it was pretty cool, to be honest. Good luck in getting donations for this! You got my respect. =)

You need to stream the 24 hour marathon so we can see you slowly going mad.

I'd tell you to play Zelda games, but...

I'm thinking about doing the 24 hour run the day before since I have Friday and Saturday off.

If I do it Saturday, I can't do it for 24 hours since I work on Sunday.

I might stream it via my laptop, if I can get it to work. For some reason, flash video tends to crash with windows 7. I need to look into it before the date to see what the issue is.

Mmm, 24 hours of the Prime Trilogy...

Really doubt I could stay up for 24 straight hours to do a marathon actually.

I'd probably play something I haven't played yet; you know, as an excuse to put a dent in the backlog.

This would be more like 12 hours for me Now that I think about it, 2 and 3 are decently long even if you try to play them as fast as you can so maybe I would take that long. I know I'd do Prime in ~4 hours though.

Each game takes me about 6 hours. I could play the Trilogy and then do Zero Mission twice. While 100%ing, of course

This sounds really cool! Unfortunately I don't have the attention span to last even an hour on a video game...

Hey Anya, I just wanted to say you've ended up inspiring me to do this thing as well. I'm now going to be participating in this I'd post my link but I don't want to steal your spotlight or anything like that

Post a link, I don't mind. It's helping a great cause.

Shame that I've only raised $30 so far.

I do this just about every weekend, haha. Maybe I should do it for charity. I could play WoW for 24 hours. All it takes is 4 different raids and you're done! I'll be sure to donate with my next paycheck, though. I donated to thespeedgamers when they were doing Final Fantasy, even though they never did Final Fantasy Tactics like I asked

I'm signed up and my wife is going to be doing this with me, too. I made a team for those that are raising funds from Jul if you want to join. Here is my donation page.

Yeah, I'll join the team makes sense, since were it not for JUL (well, more specifically Anya, but still) I'd not have known about it in the first place!
