I normally do not drink soft drinks, but in the rare cases that I do, it just really depends on what's available. I do like Coke Zero and Pepsi One and some flavors of Diet Dr. Pepper. Diet Moutain Dew isn't bad, either.

But most of the times if I drink any soda, it's because I'm at someone else's house and they have a 2 liter, and usually that won't be diet. In that case, I just try to limit how much I drink.

I don't like any low fat / fat free, low sugar / sugar free, low carb 'feelgood' products. If I want to have a nice, greasy burger, I KNOW how horrifying, unhealthy and deadly it is in terms of healthiness and fat / carb amounts and I'm willing to take the risk. I don't need the government, companies or other people taking those precautions for me.

I rarely drink soda, but when I do it tends to be at my friend's house who is a diabetic. He drinks nothing but diet mountain dew, so when I'm there I indulge. Plus I'm skinny so I can drink regular soft drinks without feeling bad about myself.

In the world of Coke and Pepsi, they've happily created no-calorie versions of their original product

Those are even WORSE than diet! It's carbonated water with aspartame and dye.

Coke Zero is ok but Pepsi Max is much better.

I used to think Diet Coke was better. I had my stash of it at work and would drink 1 bottle on my lunch break when I worked at Ashley Furniture. Now I prefer Diet Pepsi. As I write this, I am drinking Diet Mountain Dew since it is readily available every morning via the cafeteria here at my work. They have it as a fountain drink and refills on a 32 oz cup are only $0.89. Cheaper than a 20oz bottle.

I would have to agree. I got one for them for free from Pizza Hut and I tried it....

Still tastes nice. Plus, with moderation, there are no detrimental effects.

Aspartame has been linked to MS though. But again, moderation.

I still say it's a mental thing. It tastes no different to me there, either.

Pepsi One did taste different, though. And I fucking loved it.

Diet pop tastes kind of bitter and leaves a bad aftertaste in my mouth (not that regular really tastes sweet [although I compared the taste of US and Mexican Coca-Cola {which uses real sugar}, the later of which tasted a little sweet]).

Yeah, high fructose corn syrup is sweet, but it has a blandness to it. Sugar has a bit more to it's flavor than just pure sweet. Kinda like a high pitched whine to a nice violin or something.

I don't like the taste of diet, and don't tell me that it's all in my head! Once when I was at a restaurant after taking one sip of my Coke I could tell just by the taste that it wasn't regular, I then asked the waiter what it was and he responded "didn't you ask for diet coke?". Apparently diet has chemicals in it that are worse for you too but if you're drinking pop in the first place you probably don't have too much to worry about except for the fact that aspartame is going to cause you to grow a third eye .

REgular soda all the way. Literally all diet drinks I've had tasted terrible, especially when it flattened a little.

Luckily I know someone who can get me Mexican Coke where they don't use that disgusting High-Fructose corn syrup. That crap sticks to the back of your throat, may or may not contain mercury and overall tastes like crap.

Bring back the throwback, Please!

I occasionally see throwback Pepsi around here. I really wish they would keep it around as a "higher end" more expensive option, if sugar really costs that much. Like Pepsi Plus or Super Pepsi or something. And have that variant for most of their line. Hell, a more expensive option will probably be overpriced anyway, and they'll likely make more off of it, especially if a good lot of people get it.

It's a possibility that the throwback variant could've been kind of market testing for an alternate type of pop.

Oh god I agree. Mountain Dew Throwback just tasted loads better than the usual. Not to say their usual isn't bad, but... I was shocked at the difference.

Ironically, I think the one made with sugar had ... less sugar, or something, going by the nutrition facts. Not a whole lot, but less. I might not be remembering things right, though.

Or the government could remove the fucking sugar tariffs and keep it at reasonable price so we can enjoy a more natural healthy soda.

Regular. Just have no need for diet soda. And sometimes I don't like the difference in taste, if there is any.

I want to see those drinks with real sugar come to Canada. No luck yet. (Then again, we can only put caffeine into colas and not into other drinks like Mountain Dew...)

I used to drink diet soda all the time, but now it's pretty much regular or nothing.

..which makes me realize that I don't drink nearly as much as I used to. That's probably a wise choice.
