I learned HTML first by watch my brother and then just experimenting on my own. This was way back in the Geocities days of 1997. A few years later I started learning PHP, MySQL and CSS the same way. And most of my Adobe Photoshop skills were from experimentation and boredom. I read a lot of tutorials but never had any classes on it.

I also learned to play the drums on my own. Our new church needed a drummer so I bought a set and just started playing. I've always been "rhythmic" if that can be used to describe someone. My parents called my brother and I the "Mad Tappers" because we were always tapping to make beats. I wasn't that great to start but I could keep a simple beat. After about 6 months I started getting a lot better. I would sit and listen to a song and then try to match the drums from it. I did this for a while and it really improved my timing and transitions. Now after 3 years I could be a passable drummer in an actual band but I sold my set after our church stopped having music (long story).

And if it counts, I learned how to drift RC cars on my own. Its not easy you know. Weight transfer, counter-steer, apex, etc. Its really fun and I'm getting better at holding the drift lines.
