When I run toadstool 64 it runs really slowly and I don't know why.

1: You can't
2: You can't

Both of these things have to be done using a hex editor. (There are probably some specific objects that work in TT64 only because they are made that way.)

i've got another problem that's probably a bit harder to answer.

i changed the rom's title (SUPER MARIO 64) in a hex editor and now my rom crashes. i have a backup, so the hack is fine, but how can i change the title of the rom without making it unplayable. I know it's possible because messiaen did it with the missing stars.

that is wierd, because the rom i edited will open with TT64, but it won't run on Project 64. So the problem is kind of reversed. Or maybe there's no problem at all, and my emulator is broken.

EDIT: Problem Solved! My Project 64 Save Data was corrupted.

Hi, this is Flames540 i've already introduced myself at another topic and i'd like to ask something

[1.]I have started a big mod and I changed Mario into Luigi just to check it out but then... I couldn't change Luigi back into Mario
how am I supposed to do that? (if I patched my Rom, my Mod will be destoyed or I could copy every single change I made and put them in a new unused Rom but that wil take a few (lost) extra hours)

[2.]Another question: Ok, so I know I can't add extra objects...but can I add extra warps without changing the original warps? (I tried but I suppose it isn't possibly at the moment right?)

[3.]Ok, some people sure have mentioned that there are textures missing like Skies, titel screen, file select,water, lava etc
and some other texture that are available are hard to reconise, will there be something done about that? (I hope so)

1. You can't, you'll have to copy everything to a new rom, sorry.

2. No, it's not possible yet.

3. I don't know about the other textures, but there will be a background swapper in the next version of TT64.

4. I don't know, i actually want to do the same thing in my hack, but i don't know how.

Actually you can get Mario back in a Luigi ROM, but it requires some manual copying using an hex editor.

Two "Banks" needs to be copied back from a freshly extended SM64 ROM:

The Mario polygon bank which is at: 0x823B64 to 0x858EDC
The geo layout bank which is at: 0x1279B0 to 0x12A7E0

So what you do is:
-Open the clean extended ROM in an hex editor.
-Select the polygon bank at the range of addresses I provided.
-Copy the data.
-Open your modded Luigi ROM.
-Select the same range of data.
-Paste what you just copied from the clean extended ROM, which will replace the Luigi data.

Repeat the same process for the geo layout bank.

Be sure to make a copy of your modded ROM before attempting this, because if you screw up you might corrupt your ROM!

Note that if you only copy back the geo layout bank you will get some funny results

Thanks guys for helping me out! questions 1 - 3 are well answered but Q4...can't I edit water in a Hex editor? (wich Hex editor shall I use? I have worked with XVI32, is there a better one?)

Are you sure you're not inserting data instead of replacing? Make sure that the destination ROM doesn't change size when you paste the data.

Everytime i try to see my level in Toad's Tool my level appears all distorted (no ground, wrong textures, missing scenery), but when i play it in-game it is all right.

Other problem is every time i try to move the "warp box" to a different place it causes instant death to mario.

Any idea? =/

Yes, it is, i didn't received any error in level importer, for example, i have put some ground texture outside the castle that i'm build, but (only) in that area got some invisible walls and when i force he dies too.

I'd like to start making new levels for SM64.

I have some questions that need answering, maybe you can help me...

Right where do I start!..... at the beginning.... yes.

it was simple time when the grass was greener and the... NO!

if I was to start making simple levels in SketchUp how do I...

1. make everything in proportion for Mario, how far can he jump up, long jump, side jump, tri-jump, whats the max distance for walls so Mario can do wall to wall jumping also the min, eg: how far should the walls be apart from one-another.

2. if I added the textures in SketchUp for the level, would they be there in the game, if not how do I go about adding them?

3.should I only be using a small/set amount of polygons in SketchUp?

4. how do I make different surfaces act in different ways, eg: make it so Mario can steep clam walls, make surface slippy, qiuck sand etc... (Guess this is not in SketchUp)

this is what I know so far, how to...

-use Google SketchUp.

-use TT64 Basics. (can you add extra objects to levels?)

-get an obj file into a game. (using Mario 64 Level Importer v12, don't know what all the setting do maybe you could help there too)

hoping you can help me out here, or link me to somewhere or someone who can.

Hello Luke! I'm going to answer your questions the best I can.

1. That depends on how you size the model in the importer. Basically, YOU decide and resize the model until you've got the right size.

2. Yes, adding the textures in Sketchup adds them in-game too. If it doesn't, be sure to check if there is a .MTL file in the directory of your model.

3. Super Mario 64 can handle a lot more polygons than most of the levels that already exists. You don't have to worry too much about it.
Some key rules is to not make too many circles or overlapping faces in Sketchup.
