I'm only 18, so I feel young and on top of life

and yet I feel old at the same time;
but it's more of the responsible not-a-kid old than old old

I'm also 18 and this pretty much describes exactly how I feel. The fact that I'm leaving to go to university in 3 days doesn't help...

I may just be going through this. I'm pretty much the only one in class with no interest in: most of their pop culture, sports, the television, smoking, getting high, and sex.
And I feel a bit old too.

Yeah, that was about it here. I spent most of my years at that age ignoring or spitefully shoving away my peers, since 90% of them just wanted to bother me about teenage ridiculousness stuff I didn't care for.

I tended to ignore my peers during high school.

Not only was I uninterested in typical teen stuff, but I was also a transplant from suburbia into a redneck village. So I also wasn't interested in hunting, farming, four-wheelers, and other rural, rednecky topics.

Many people on the internet share interests not common. They might be titled "nerds" or just dealt like outsiders if you didn't like just drinking or doing popular stuff, but not gaming or other activities which seemed to be like deprecated. Thankfully this changed with the internet.

There is a much broader acceptance and this should probe that there is actually nothing nerdy in this thing. Similar if you change froom school to university. Then you can do that what you actually want to study, school required you to take courses which you were not interested in. I am 29 years old, but don't feel old. At least my hair is still growing, unlike some of my friends there is no sign of alopecia. Two weeks ago I let cut 80 cm off off it, and taking a shower with hair cleaning at 22:00h/10:00pm is no problem anymore

But really, to get back on topic, you are NEVER to old to do something. Just kick your butt or let someone do this for yourself.

I was pretty much mercilessly picked on in high school. Admittedly, I still hold a grudge against my former classmates enough to have pretty much decided that I'm not attending my ten year reunion in 2014.

It's also one of the biggest reasons I refuse to get Facebook.

There's no way I'd go to a class reunion. A liberal atheist lesbian going back to a redneck community in Michigan all the way from Seattle, spending all that money to risk her life like that? No thanks.

eh. They wanted to pick on me but after I gave them free visits to the hospital and commited arson, they stopped.

But I was always alone. So I'll probably not go back to meet my old classmates.

I don't technically have any class reunions to go to. I went to 2 different high schools, 3 middle schools, and 4 elementary schools... Besides being home schooled for a year. And eventually ended up getting my GED.

There used to be three elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school all in my town.

I actually went to every single one of them. o.O

I'm 26 and sometimes I feel a decade or so older... and I still speak to friends from 15+ years ago, too... =/

I moved around a lot when I was younger, so I gained friends as quickly as I lost them in some cases, too =(

Oh, and I'll be turning 16 soon. That's about the age people thought I am when I talked to them on the internet when I was 11. Wonder if anything changed.

Same here. I'm 19, will turn 20 in early 2011, and I'm really not into most modern pop culture at all. In fact, my favorite band is from the '70s. I do feel kind of old, though, especially considering most of the members of a certain other forum are younger than me, and several of them are smarter than me even though they're up to 5 years younger. I sure feel like I didn't do enough with my life before high school, though...heck, I don't even remember much that happened before I was about 13. Now here I am, and most of the fun part is over, with lots of work ahead of me. If I didn't already feel old, I would when I started aging prematurely from stress.

So, yeah, I know what you mean. I kind of feel old sometimes, too. As for Anya...somebody get her out of here before she gets a heart attack. I was reminded of when my dad turned 37 and said he was half dead. That was nearly a decade ago, and I still try to tell my parents that they're not that old, don't look bad because of their age, etc. So...30 may seem ancient compared to a bunch of teenagers, but in the grand scheme, it's barely the beginning of another era.

A class reunion would probably consist of "Hi, Hi, Hi, oh it's you" *Nasty right hook sucker punch* "Er, and hi, hi, and hi" for me.

I have almost no memory of anybody in High School. If I strain really hard enough, I may be able to remember a name or two. But I probably couldn't tell you anything about those people. So, even if I hadn't moved out-of-state, there'd be no point in going to a high school reunion. I wouldn't remember anyone there.

As for worrying about getting older... For several years, I used to worry about it a lot, but eventually I just stopped thinking about it. The problem with worrying is that I think the stress of it was making me sick.
