OK, I know this thread has been done before. So, if you've replied to these threads in an unbroken chain dating all the way back to I1, feel free to ignore this one. However, I am curious about the usernames of some of our newer members, as I think it's been long enough since this thread's last incarnation.

Anyway, as I state in the wall of text in my profile, "Terra" comes from the character Terra Branford in Final Fantasy VI I first played FF6 just a few years ago and almost immediately identified with Terra. I'm not very imaginative with names and I tend to steal names of characters or other things (including an operating system component once). As a result, the name Terra is usually taken in a lot of places, so for large stuff like AIM and Twitter I'll use Terra1041, which is just Terra plus my Jul ID.

Some other names I use:
TKB - My initials, used for ROM hacking (although newer hacks are dual-credited TKB/Terra) and at board2 (when I wanted to leave Jul back in November-ish and didn't want to completely give myself away).
Taryn - My first name, which used to be my primary alias in 2008-2009 until I decided not to use it here. Still used at Project Aon, not that I usually go there anymore.
Helghast Warning - Derived from Lone Wolf (as in Let's Play Lone Wolf). Helghast, which is both the singular and the plural word, are shape-shifting creatures impervious to normal weapons. I used it at Sierra Planet because I had been banned there before and was masking my identity, using my study abroad in Germany as a convenient disguise.

Nowadays I sign up for pretty much everything as Terra or Terra1041 though, because of how much Jul has dominated my online life Except things that are very RL-ish, like job and bank stuff. I dumped my old E-mail address not only because people might think I was born in 1993 instead of 1987, but also because I had a problem giving it over the phone and using it for serious stuff.

Orlandu: bad ass holy swordsman from Final Fantasy Tactics PSX tactical RPG game. Also known as easy mode once you have him in your party.

I first played Final Fantasy Tactics in 1998 a few months after it was released. From the moment I started, I was hooked. Then along came Cidolfas Orlandu, a.k.a. Thunder God Cid / TG Cid. He was the end all character of the game. He brought you the Excalibur Sword (2nd best weapon of the game) and his All Swordskill abilities. When I joined a Final Fantasy forum in 2001, this was the obvious choice. It's stuck with me ever since.

The only time I deviate from Orlandu is if its already taken so I go by ffaorlandu (FFA stands for Final Fantasy Alexandria, my old website). Or if its on a game website, such as an MMO, I go by my character's names (Kellorn and Kresch are my 2 common game names).

"Friend" was bestowed upon me by Darthbobby when I was participating in a Skype call at FP's house. FP introduced me as his friend and then Darthbobby as his usual silly self replied, "Hi Friend." The name stuck and has been with me ever since. Occasionally I change it to Friendbot2000 because I love robots, androids, and cyborgs. I get asked all the time on IRC if I am actually a bot for the channel.

It's my real first name, simply because I'm a lazy fuck when it comes to cool internet usernames.

I don't really have many other handles, though somehow I am known for one of my RPing characters who has a different last name. Never actually coined it for myself, it just sorta happened. Go fig.

Well even though they're kind of overused, I've always like the "adjective + noun + number" naming style for internet handles. When I first chose this username, I was originally picking it out as my AIM username (which I now never use), and I found Jul shortly after that so I just used the same name.

As for my thought process in picking this particular one, I've always been fond of Greek and Roman mythology, so I wanted the noun in the "adjective + noun + number" scheme to be a Greek goddess, but I wanted it to be a lesser known goddess that was also badass. After surfing Wikipedia, I decided on Nemesis, goddess of vengeance, justice, and divine retribution. I also happened to be particularly pissed at a major person in my life at this time, so this really appealed to me . Plus obviously Nemesis also means one's arch rival, and usually refers to an awesome evil villain, so that was a plus too. After that the rest was easy. I wanted the name to be dark, and black was one of my favorite colors, so now I had BlackNemesis. 13 was my favorite number, and already had connections to the dark side with it supposedly being unlucky, so now I had the full name of BlackNemesis13.

Despite this name being 5 or 6 years old now, I still like it, and I hate constant name changes so I'll be sticking with this one for a while.

I've told this story a bajillion times by now, so I'll just give an abridged version for you new people.

Once upon a time, I stumbled upon this, and it fascinated me that there was only one Red Snifit in the entire game.
Not too long after that, I stumbled upon a place called Acmlm's Board, and it looked like a pretty cool place, so I registered. When I had to pick a username, I remembered the Red Snifit and, after a bit of thought, decided to name myself after it.

...And from that day forth, I would always name myself based off of that one choice, even though I had been called many different things in the days of old, and even though I have conjured up many greater and more original names in the nights since.

I got the name "Schala" from my favorite Chrono Trigger character... started using that name back in 2008, since I felt it really fit me. If that name is taken, I use either "eternalschala" or (more recently) "schalaashtear" instead.

Other names I use on occasion:
- Danielle (some stuff unrelated to Jul)
- Tifa (board2, also my name I used for part of 2009... also the name I was initially planning to use when registering here =P)
- KWS (three random letters, sorta like a demo/crack-sounding name xP)

krutó -- romanticized Russian word for awesome
omisi -- Italian first-person singular past historic form of removed

kruto didn't sound cool enough alone,
so I hit the random button until omisi came up.

krutó-omisi      =      krutomisi

aaand that is how I waste time in the Wikitonary

also, I just found out that крутой is now romanticized as krutój

so I'm krutojmisi now

Zild comes from zildjian, which is the name I go by on a lot of sites. Lots of people just shorten it to Zild when they talk to me, so that sort of became my own thing. Plus I play drums. Zildjian = Drum company

Waaaaaaaaay back when I was first introduced to message boards by a very old friend of mine, (2000-2003ish) both he and I would go by the names Paaliaq and Siarnaq; which are the names of two moons of Saturn. I was Paaliaq. Old old shit right there.

I saw this back in 1997. I really liked the character "Anya" and started to use that as my nick name and eventually turned into my alter-ego/persona.

Other nicks:

13Past9 (Youtube): It's the time that I was born.

Next Jen: While at one of the GameStop's conference, my fellow managers and I were sitting at dinner (a round table) while listening in on a presentation about the next generation of gaming systems. One of the managers next to me said that he was sitting next to Jen, there go, Next Jen.

First name.

Because it's cool.

(And because I don't like hiding behind nicknames/aliases if I have a choice.)

If Colin's taken, I'll use some variation on Cleric or Green Cleric.

You know, Colin, the word "cleric" still generally makes me think of you

Other names I've used here include:
Neun - On 09-09-09, I used this. It's German for 9 (pronounced "noin").
Dark Witch Terra - Halloween 2009.
derp - The derp spree a few months ago.

Maybe I'll get my username changed again eventually.
