Argh, summer. My least favourite season, probably most people's favourite. When it gets too hot, what do you do?

As a teen, I'd swim in Lake Huron, which was pretty much frigid 365.2422 days of the year Now, I don't even have AC, just a little fan. Sometimes I open the window, and I drink a lot of cold beverages. Plus, I take colder showers.

What about you?

Air conditioning, mostly.

I used to be big on ice cream, but as of late I really don't like the stuff.

A/C

If I'm outside, then I'll just pour water on me from my water bottle. This is usually if I'm out for a walk or going to work on my bike.

AC is pretty rare in Seattle. Sure, you only need it like 10 days of the year, but not having it makes those 10 days hell for a cold-weather person like me.

AC is very useful in Montreal during the summer. Contrary to popular belief, it gets quite humid up here from June through September.

Granted, it's useless 8 months of the year, but oh so very vital during the remaining 4.

It's actually been pretty cool here this past summer.

Then again, we do have long, late and cool summers, and tend to have storms/hurricanes here every few years.

Although when it does get quite hot out, I generally turn on the fan on 1 or 2 and let it blow on me.

Heaters are not rare here since they're the next setting on an a/c unit.

But when you turn it to heat, it smells.

Yea, no use for heat in Florida usually... but as for me, I stay cool by drinking plenty of water, as well as my air conditioner =D

Ice cream, open the patio doors and do as little as possible.

It works for every other season too.

By living up North.

Actually, it does get hot during the summer, and I combat it by closing the curtains during the evening (west-facing window), drinking cold water, and/or sitting around naked. I have an electric fan, but it's horribly noisy so I don't use it often.

Except for the heat wave, the temperature has been pretty much comparable to a Winter back in Puerto Rico ... So I'm not really complaining

During the heat wave I'd just turn on the fan, my room didn't get too hot, anyway.

Turn up the A/C. If the A/C is busted or my parents refuse to turn it on, I get masochistic and just continue what I'm doing in my room. Gets up to 90 degrees on really bad days, but I'll likely still be in it doing whatever.

But if I don't really want to do that crap sometimes I'll just go outside if it's really just 80 degrees or below and my room is just being bitchy for being in the back of the house.

Like the majority of previous posters, I also turn on the A/C when it gets so hot that having the windows open only makes the house even hotter. I also take frequent swims in the unheated above ground pool in my backyard as it provides an easy and quick method of cooling down.

I envy those with pools. They can just go to the backyard and jump in some water to beat the heat. And exercise while they're at it.

I just ignore the heat.

No, seriously. Just find something to do that requires a lot of thinking and time, and before you realize it the sun will be down and it will be cooler. You won't have time to worry about the temperature.
