Anyone here gamble and/or play the lottery?

I don't do either of them too often because I've never had much income, but sometimes when I lived in Michigan, I'd go with my parents to Canada or Mount Pleasant and play for a while using birthday or Christmas money or something. My favourite games were video poker, blackjack, 3-card poker, and 4-card poker. The non-card games didn't interest me much.

As for lotteries, I've bought tickets sometimes when the Mega Millions jackpot was big enough Sometimes, I'd dream of what would happen if I won. I wouldn't have to worry about a damn job search. As a kid, my parents would let me scratch off the scratch-offs (that looks rather redundantly redundant), but of course, I couldn't buy or redeem them.

Edit: the card games and motorcycles filters still exist?

I'm not big into casinos, but I like to buy lottery tickets sometimes. When Powerball or Mega Millions is high enough, I usually play $5 on them (I used to go crazy and play like $20 when it was at $300M or more...)

I also like some scratch-offs, like the pinball or slot machine ones, and the "match 3 to win a prize" ones too. Used to like Ca$hword, but I rarely win on those (same with Bingo). =/

We went up to Saratoga Raceway a couple days ago to bet on horses... I won $6.40, but I was making dollar bets anyway; my girlfriend won $95.80 on a trifecta (lucky her xP)

Yup.

Yes, I would be considered a gambler. I don't now as much as I did a few months ago, bills come first and there have been a lot of them lately. But I drop $20 in the slots when we go to a movie or buffet or something at the casinos. Thats part of the gambling problem here in Nevada, all the best buffets and movie theaters are located inside the casinos.

Anyway, I like video poker and blackjack, but most of my mine goes into and comes from video slots. We call them "foo-foo games" because they usually look nice. Some are pop culture themed, such as Monopoly, Wizard of Oz, and now Lord of the Rings (my new favorite). They almost all have bonus games you get to play for extra cash prizes, or you get free re-spins to earn more cash off your 1 bet. They tend to be penny games, as well. But they are multi-line so you can play 1 penny but you can play 40 lines which equals $0.40 bet. And you can do more than 1 per line, sometimes as high as 10 per line for a total of $4.00 bet!

The biggest I've won so far was $250 off of a quarter Wheel of Fortune machine. I've also won $100+ a few times from the "foo-foo games" we like to play. Every once in a while we'll put $25 on a blackjack table. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. If I double up or more, I walk away.

I go to the casino every once in a few months, and I usually play Blackjack there. I always bring € 50 with me, no more and no less. Until now, I've always made profit, even if it is just a little.

I never gamble unless it's about fictional cash. I tend to find it be a pointless money drain that really does not give anything back. The excitement/cost ratio is much lower then most video games too, make me more likely to spend my cash on getting something that sounds exciting there. :o

That and... I'm a bit of a saveaholic. :<

I won 2 grand in Vegas when I went back in 06. That was pretty awesome.

Nowadays I just play the lottery every now and again. But they are going to building casinos here in Ohio....

I started going to Foxwoods/Mohegan Sun on a regular basis back in December of 2008. I have also been to Vegas this past February. Vegas is definitely the slot capital of the world with thousands and thousands of slots everywhere. My friend and I stayed at the Luxor and I won the most money there. I'm a low roller, so I go for the penny machines (20 to 30 lines max), or once in a while 2-cent and nickel machines (5 lines of a 9-line machine). My favorite slot companies are IGT, Bally, and WMS. Bally has Quick Hits, IGT has a lot of good 5-reel games, and WMS has a lot of good 3-reel and 5-reel transmissive slots (Zeus is my favorite). I go to the casino just as a break from the norm, so I don't take that much with me -- probably $50 to $100.

I've never been a big gambler. It's more likely you'll end up losing shit instead of gaining more, so why bother trying very persistently? Once in a while is fine, but overdoing it is destructive at best.

The rare scratch ticket and putting in $5 every week at work to play Lotto Max as a group.

Haven't won a jackpot yet. XD I think the most I won was $50 and that was when I was really young.

(Why yes, when I was younger stores in Quebec didn't give a rat's ass if 11-year old kids were buying lotto tickets. Whether they were with their parents or not.)

Put $10 in a "foo-foo" game today as we call it, nothing. Got 1 win for $3.50 but that was it. Sometimes you hit, most times you don't. Thats all I like to do lately is drop $10 or $20 and see if you win. If you get to $5 or more than what you put in, its a decent win and I can walk away with that.

People give me scratch tickets as stocking stuffers sometimes. If I'm feeling especially lucky/silly and there's a place nearby I'll go put a single coin in a slot machine and play it once, or buy a single scratch ticket... this happens maybe 2-3 times a year. I know how ridiculous the odds are, but I can think of worse things to spend ~$7/year on.
