When I was younger, I used to be incredibly picky. Now, I've grown out of it and I try new things occasionally.

My dog eats what we give him. Then he sits in front of us and stares while we're eating dinner or tea, hoping his cuteness will break us down and make us give him some of our food. Awww...

My cat only eats what's in his bowl, my dog however, eats just about anything.

I'm not too picky of an eater, I'm open to new types of cuisine, it mainly comes down to ingredients in sandwiches and hamburgers, that's where I get picky. Which is why it's hard for me to go through regular fast food places because they always mess up my order. "I said no mayo god dammit."

I'm still a pretty picky eater, I guess. I mean I like a vast majority of food that I had and generally don't find much issue over, but I start to hate food that my mom overkills like tacos and very starchy mashed potatoes and more. She only cooks like 25 unique meals, usually with one or two being eaten at least once a week or more. And some of these I hate.

Plus, she grew some okra and cooked some on Sunday. Okra was woody, weird gooey water reminding me of certain man-made fluids required eating to eat the lentils (which also tasted horrible). She was slurping said goo. x 100

Though yesterday the lentils were cooked hard and without the goo, so I liked it somewhat. The goo imagery was still in my head and I hated it.

I do try other foods occasionally, but how much time do you really have to enjoy what you know you like in life?

I don't really eat too many things, I don't like mixed things either. I have plain hamburgers, but I am eating a salami sandwich with cheese.

I've never been very picky, but I can't stand waffles for some reason (probably because of a bad experience with them =/)

Also, I'll eat other dairy products like cheese, but not drink cow's milk; something like goat or soy milk, however, I'll drink that. =P

Most of my really, really good friends always turn out to be picky eaters.

I myself am not, though I tend to fall back on my favorite stuff more often than what might be normal.

Picky eaters can be annoying, especially those that only want to eat junk food and the like. Cooking is one of my hobbies, and I've learned to always try/taste everything out before shouting that I don't want/like it. Of course, it's everyone's own decision to be picky, but picky people tend to be a hassle in a group. A good example is going to a restaurant with a big portion of the family, or a big group of friends. Some people don't want to go anywhere, because they "don't like" the food at a lot of places (while they never even tried it in the first place), and you end up going somewhere shitty.

I was a mildly picky eater at one time.

Then I had 2 years of oversalted, fat-loaded, bland food at college.

Fish? Great!

Stews? Tastes like heaven!

Rabbit? Still too cute

Mushrooms? I can eat them, but...

I was pretty picky when I was younger. I don't know why, I just really disliked the taste of a lot of things.

Now I'll eat just about anything, although today my dad bought me a chicken... nice pre-cooked still-warm whole bird. I appreciate this, and don't want to waste food, but having to cut and tear parts off just grosses me out.

Still I eat a lot of instant noodles and pasta, just because they're cheap and easy. I have been making some pretty nice burgers lately though.

It's a Canadian thing, since I feel the same way.

Whoa, missed this...

Not sure if it's picky or not, but I can't stand people who put ketchup on mac & cheese.

You, my dear Anya, have no culinary taste.

Interesting how I consider myself to be quite picky (dislike tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, peppers, various nuts (not allergic), coconut, most fruit pastries, etc...) but I like a lot of stuff you guys mentioned that you DON'T like.

Basically I don't like foods that are too overpowering or spicy. Take salami for instance. There's a mild brand of Hungarian salami which is the only one I enjoy because it tastes VERY good. Lots of meaty flavor and it doesn't make your breath stink. Other "mild" salami brands? They either have too much of a garlic aftertaste or are still spicy.
