Those forms are annoying. Am I supposed to call up all of my relatives all the way in Michigan and ask them what diseases they had? I know a few (grandma had cataracts and was an alcoholic, mom had breast cancer), but I don't know everything.

Also, I don't like forms that ask for "mother's maiden name". That implies that I have my father's last name, which I don't.

Whats funny is that most forms asking for information do not require 1/3 of the information requested. You don't always have to give out your social security number, mothers maiden name (as Terra mentioned), phone number, etc.

But if I had to ask my wife what her DOB was for a form... you'd be getting posts from me in the hospital, haha.

To make up for it, make the year bigger

Paulguy's Post configuration
I am absolutely miserable with birth dates.

I only know my own, my sister's and grandma's birthdays. I'm miserable with remembering a lot of my family at all, even. :p

I always wondered why shipping something absolutely requires a phone number. Like, you can't even use an E-mail address to substitute if you don't want them to call you. Not that I've even been called about a shipment of anything, AFAIK.

I remember getting the application for a Social Security card and they need your father's name and mother's birth name. What if you have 2 parents of the same sex, or only 1 parent, or your mother changed her name for a reason other than marriage, or your father did change his name from marriage, etc.? Not everyone fits the mold "marriage of opposite sex where the male name is carried forth" anymore

Birthdays are depressing (I know I'm young with no health problems, but still that doesn't change the fact) so I really don't care about anyone's. What's the point of acknowledging the fact that someone is getting older? I mean, it bothers some people including myself because of the due nature of getting older; so I'm reluctant to be the first to say anything about it. It can get very awkward if you don't know the person who you're saying "Happy Birthday" to since you don't know how they feel about the inevitable aging process, and ultimately... death.

For me, it's a way of saying "hey, another year of your life behind you, it's been a blast again". You're celebrating what you've seen, what you've felt and the memories you've got. Also you're celebrating the coming days, how you're getting wiser.

Congratulations, the Earth has done another rotation and managed to not fall off it's axis!

In any case, birthdays are awesome.

So yeah, I actually did call my grandmother, if anyone was wondering.

That said, my birthday is usually just another ordinary day to me. I might get the occasional "Happy Birthday!", plus the flood of happy birthdays on FB, and a call or two from family, but aside from that, I don't really do anything different for my birthday.

I don't mind eating something special though, but chicken tenders and sushi are readily available on campus anyway, so it's like every day is my birthday.

I should also mention that with my general inability to remember birthdays that I have a general inability to remember names or faces at first. Like, longer than what it should be.

I have a terrible memory overall.

I was like that too.

I always had a much harder time remembering males than females, too. Like in school, I'd know the names and faces of every girl in the class long before I'd know them for every boy.
