I have a problem with spiders and bugs in general where I have a hard time killing even ants. A giant fast spider was in my room which is the basement and jumped behind my PC and eventually came out from behind the wall and I squished the bastard with a book. He scared me shitless tot he point where I was not going to sleep down here. I need to know if anyone has had success with sprays and whatnot that can keep these bastards away. Anything useful besides "close up the holes in your house" because that's fucking hard to do.

My dad picked up some small plugin devices that go into electrical outlets that emit a low frequency noise once. They're designed for rats and rodents and stuff, but since the day he plugged them in around the house (one in each room, by the doors and windows), I have not seen a single spider. Instead, they've taken a liking to shacking up outside my house, on window sills, on the corner of the steps, on the porch, etc.

It's also kept other bugs out for the most part as well, no ants, no silverfish, no ugly hair water bugs. The only creature I've seen sneaking into my house undazed by the sound was a snake. It's pet safe, too :o

It may be worth looking into, I'm surprised it worked. I'm not sure what the device is called or what brand or whatever, the packaging has been thrown out two or three years ago.

Yeah there are a ton of those but I'd need a name or something because a lot are reported to not work.

None of them work, its just a gimmick device.

As far as keeping spiders out, there aren't really any traps or sprays that work on all spiders. They're varied so much from each type that there isn't one end all product.

But a good anti-bug campaign can help keep the spiders away. Take away their food and spiders won't stick around. Keep out traps for insects and have your house sprayed every other month or once every 3 months.

As far as your fear of spiders, you're SOL there. I never feel all at ease the first night of finding a spider or roaches or something in our room. So you aren't alone in that regard. But the feeling passes after the first night. Just remember, most spiders don't typically like things bigger than them that move so they do avoid us.

In general, if frogs eat something, I don't want that something to be anywhere near me Worms, insects, slugs, snails, and spiders all creep me out majorly (exceptions: butterflies and dragonflies).

My parents' house used to get shitloads of spiders and ants. Crawling bugs are the worst kind, as they can't just fly away so they're more likely to be lurking in the folds of blankets or the corners and whatnot. Eww. Especially with ants all around the food in the kitchen, and on the soft drink bottles, etc.

Today I went outside and walked right into a spider web as it was being made (I saw the spider go flying and it still had web sticking out of the back of it ). Luckily I was about to go swimming so I quickly jumped into the pool to wash off .

This summer I have seen a few earwigs and spiders in my basement. Luckily whenever I'm down there I wear slippers so in the end they have all felt the awesome wrath of the bottom of my foot .

Unfortuneately as for ways to prevent them from showing up in the first place, I'm not exactly sure how to do that. I'm just always prepared to deal with them in case one appears.

I get shitloads upon shitloads of flies and such in here. I just crush every single one of them with a tissue box.

It's the reason I wish I had a CRT instead of an LCD as my main monitor.

There's a big brown spider in my house. I herd it around to areas with other bugs so it can kill those off.

My reaction to spiders makes zeeky boogy doog look like a firecracker.

I ground one into BMF's carpet with a tea jug at one point!

Have you had a sun spider, aka wind scorpion, at your place yet? Those bastards are scary looking. Non-poisonous , but they have big pincers on the front of their head, hence the name wind scorpion. They're fairly common here in the desert.

I was terrified of daddy longlegs when we camped at a place in southwestern Michigan that was crawking with them. They're similar to spiders, but they have really long legs as you would expect from the name. I freaked when I saw one climb up my leg.

I could never live someplace like Miami. The tales of huge bugs everywhere would scare me shitless.

Then again, I've heard that this area has gigantic slugs, but I've encountered none so far. Maybe it's the wrong time of year or they're not usually in the city.

Slugs prefer damp weather, so you'll probably see them when it rains.

Hubby is terrified of spiders. It's always funny when we get one in the house.
