We could use that plan with our landlord. July's power bill was outrageous. Granted we have a pool and 6 adults living in the house, but it was still really high. It doesn't help that the house is 19 years old, needs new insulation, windows aren't sealed very well anymore, and the AC unit is just as old. And no gas line to the house, so its all electric.

The AC unit in our room (which was an addition to the house) isn't the type that should be on all the time, but in this heat it has to be. Its not the smart type that shuts down when the house it cool enough. All it does is stop blowing cool air and becomes like a fan, blowing normal air. Then it comes back on 5 minutes later blowing cool air. It has a timer feature but all you can do is tell it to be on or off, not adjust the fan speed or air temperature. I think we'll be moving out of this house before next summer when our lease is up.
