How many slices of pizza will you eat?
Let's say you're at some kind of group gathering, and they've arranged for some pizza. If there's no limit to the amount of pizza available, how many slices will you eat?

In my experience, for club meetings, or just general get togethers, there usually isn't enough pizza for everyone, if there's a large amount of people there.

I think the average person can eat 2 or 3 slices, so I would say to take the total amount of people present, multiply by 2.5, and that's how many slices to get. Rounded *up* to the nearest pie, that is.

I don't know if this would be sufficient though, so that's why I'm making this poll here.

I personally will eat 3 slices at most, and maybe a 4th if there are leftovers, but initially it'll be 3.

Edit: Yes, I'm talking about "large" round pizzas. Like if you were to order a large from Papa John's, Domino's, Pizza Hut, etc.

Usually 3, though at times I get super hungry and I eat 4 slices. I also like to eat a lot of garlic bread with my pizza.

In a meeting of somewhere respectful I may limit myself to up to 4 slices.
But I must admit I do nomaly have a medium pizza all to myself.
At my worst I had a large pizza and a half.
But in meeting most likely 3-4.

Incidentally, I'm cooking a pizza right now... but since my brother's visiting, I'll only be eating half of it.

Uh, if it's a party sized pizza people are going to eat a ton more. Also, I eat a shitload regardless of size. Also also, depends on what you mean by slice. Do you mean like, 8 inch long slices like most places have, or slices which are like a half of a party pizza. (Yes, there are Italian pizza pubs that make these and call them flatout slices)

I must have a small stomach or something. I usually eat only one slice, rarely two. If it's a personal-sized pizza, I eat maybe 3/4 of it.

I mean like normal sized slices, from a large-sized pizza that you'd get from any pizza place, like Pizza Hut, Domino's, Papa John's, etc; not specialty places that make gigantic pizzas with carpet-square-sized pieces.

The question is kind of skewed simply because of the wide variance of slice sizes. I know some places that slice pizzas into 16ths, 8ths, ... and that's not even counting the size changs.

Case in point, I can have an entire shitty oven pizza to myself if I haven't eaten all day, but having had one meal within the last 8 hours I generally eat 1-2 slices.

Mileage varies.

So I'm assuming you mean triangle cut and not square? It makes a difference. Triangle cut pizzas are about 8-12 slices depending on the size of the pie, while a square cut can easily be 25.

Anyway, I'd say assuming that each person will average 2.5 slices, especially for a triangle cut pizza, is a good assumption in general. However, you must take into consideration how the mood of a situation, and the nature of the people you're serving will affect the pizza consumption. 2.5 is a good assumption if the atmosphere and nature of the people suggests that they will tend to eat less. That means that the event has a degree of formality to it, its clear that the pizza available must feed everyone, and the people there have basic manners.

The atmosphere depends on how much pizza is initially available, and on how formal the event is. The nature of the people really just depends on whether or not you'll be serving assholes that won't care if they wolf down a whole pie even if it means that there will be nothing left for anyone else. If the event is fairly casual and you make PLENTY of pizza available, then the average consumption rate is more likely to be greater than 2.5. This is especially true if there will be a few assholes in the crowd.

I was going to make the same point as X but I won't go in to details and reiterate the same things. Suffice it to say that normal chain pizzas (Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, Papa Johns) I typically eat 4 pieces, sometimes 5 or 6 if I'm really hungry or theres plenty of pizza to go around. For Costco or other super large pizzas, I typically eat 2-3 slices. So for my vote, I averaged it at 4.

Assuming you mean large ones, either 7/8 or 15/16, or 9/8 or 17/16 if I am hungry enough and it's of a different one.
Other sizes are easilly one and a half, so I would just get one for myself and let others eat their thing.

I normally eat like a bird so it's ok.
