Stigandr

Some say they're what landed at Roswell in 1947, and that their right eye sees infrared light. All we know is, they're called The Stigandr.

I have about 20/30 or 20/40 in my left eye, and I'm pretty much incapable of focusing my right eye at all. I can see a little bit out of my right eye, but it's not enough to be useful.

Edit: Whoops, omitted a small phrase and changed the meaning entirely.

I have 20/15 vision as well. Indeed, despite starting at a monitor all day, people usually come to me for help with seeing extremely small things.

Staring at a monitor all day will not damage your eyesight unless you work far beyond the normal strain it causes (10+ hours with no breaks at all, maybe).

I'm not too bad... my optometrist says I have like... 20/60 in both eyes? (Stigmatism in the left =/)

Ah well... I'm better than most people I know

I'm at the level where Any of the letters below 200 are blurry as hell, but I manage to find my way around places and not do anything bad to myself.

I don't know what my prescription is as such to be able to tell you how bad my eyes are. they aren't too bad, I just can't see things that are further away very well now.

I wear my glasses more often than not now. Particularly driving.

Or, I imagine, if you have a blurry POS CRT. LCDs FTW. (Enough TLAs for ya?)

Drag's Post #208
I'm nearsighted. It's not bad, but I need to wear glasses if I need particularly to use my eyes for long distances (like for driving, or seeing the whiteboard at class). However, my glasses prescription is badly outdated by 6 years; one of the lenses is really wrong now.

But if I'm using my computer, I usually don't need my glasses.

Even blurry POS CRTs? I could show you some if I still had them that would make your eyes bleed.

I still have mine. (Thankfully, it's no longer in use.)

Hm. So my tendency to wander away from the computer is also saving my eyesight.

Nice to know.

As for CRTs, yeah, my eyes hurt a bit after switching to LCD, but then my vision all of a sudden became much better.

Apparently the CRT was damaging my vision, and by luck switching to an LCD prevented anything permanent.

I can now read extremely small text from a foot away, and a good chunk of the eye chart from a good distance too.

I don't get much of a chance to wander away from the computer here.

You know, in a work unit with 12 people in it, only 4 don't wear glasses.

I'm reminded of a handicap parking sign near the bank down the street. Someone put what looks like masking tape on the person's head to make it look like they're wearing a sombrero. I'm not sure why, but I crack up every time I see it.
