| Speaking of Majora's Mask, just about everything with the Last Day (The Moon, the music, the atmosphere, the music, the thought of the world ending, the music...) was absolutely terrifying when I was a child. It caused me to have a fair share of nightmares back in the day, and it was probably the scariest thing which was intentionally frightening I have ever encountered.
In terms of movies, the infamous tunnel scene from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory did quite a number on me as well. The memory is so old that I can't remember any details about how I reacted (Chances are, though, I didn't actually have a reaction), but I certainly remember being horrified. The strange thing about these things, though, is that despite how scary they were, they never actually prevented me from watching/playing the movies/games they appeared in. However, this only applies to intentionally frightening things. To provide an example of an unintentionally frightening thing, whenever a game would catastrophically crash, I would nearly freak out over it. This often had lasting effects, but I could typically get over it fairly quickly. These days, video games and movies don't really scare me, but I'll never truly leave these memories behind. |
