I've noticed a good number of Julers use bikes as a significant means of transportation, so I'm wondering what bikes you guys have.

I have the top one here. The only difference is that I have a water bottle holder on it, on that one bar between the handles and pedals. It's a 21-speed bike, and is a very comfortable bike to ride on.

I love it, I bike everywhere I go within 20 miles or so. Such a good means of transportation and more people really should consider it.

I had a Diamondback Wildwood Citi, but the chain got really twisted on it so now I use whatever bike is around (my parents have several).

Just today at the garage sale, we sold the Raleigh Venture 3.0 I got in 2006 for $10

I just walk, bike or take the bus everywhere these days... unless I'm going a very far distance, where I have to use my car (such as New Jersey, for example). =/

And I don't even have a car, or a driver's licence

Mass transit and bikes are generally cheaper if you factor in all the car-related expenses (fuel, insurance, payments on the actual car, parking, repairs, etc.) into the price of owning the car. And if you have a licence, there's stuff like ZipCar and FlexCar for when it's more convenient to drive Of course, here in Michigan everyone is expected to have their own car.

Of course, the nearest bike repair place to my old apartment building was a total ripoff They'd never just fix what's wrong, they'd insist on all kinds of other little fixes like new chains when the old one still works fine, etc., and they'd mock me and expect me to want to know how bikes work and why they break. Me, I just would rather take it into the shop when it needs fixing, I don't really care what broke or why.

We weren't even testing for that.

I do have a bike but I rarely use it. Most of the time I just use my motorbike, which has only advantages and no disadvantages.

I have this, a GT Agressor 3.0. Sheffield has lots of cobbled streets, lots of hills and lots of potholes. I cycle down a canal towpath in the morning, so a sturdy mountainbike is just the sort of thing I need. I also live on the edge of the Peak District, so lots of hills and countryside to explore with it.

If you have an iPhone, this is awesome. It's like a GPS trip computer, and I've logged twenty miles this week alone

I generally use the bus, but when I did bike a bit, I'd wind up using skinny roadbikes.

Unlike those posers in plastic garb, I'd just wear my jeans and silently pass people. Sheesh... not like the plastic garb has any use unless you're on a race somewhere. :p

No bike. Tried to learn when I was younger, no dice.

I still do my part and take public transport to where I need to go.

I didn't learn how to ride a bike until I was almost 19, actually

I blame training wheels. I learned to ride with the damn things as a kid, and they don't really teach you how to ride without them, so when I did so as a kid I didn't try to balance myself and I fell. Then as an adult I tried again and never used the training wheels and I could balance just fine almost immediately.

Also, I grew up in a small village that you can easily walk from 1 end of to the other anyway, and other than that you pretty much had to drive to get anywhere, so there was no real reason for me to learn how to ride a bike until I moved to metro Detroit at age 18.

I just steal my younger brother's bike

Still, handy when I need to get somewhere that's slightly farther than walkable distance and I don't feel like driving.

This was the last bicycle that I owned. It was stolen from school grounds in 2002.

I still ride my Yamaha, though! Mine's the one in the middle, you can't really see it, but I've ridden all 3.

There are about 5 adult bikes in our garage. ONe has belong to my dad for 37 years, older than his first child, who is more or less middle aged now.

Awesome.

There's a bike kickin' around somewhere which, once we get some time to get it fixed up, will be mine for the riding.

I need to get out more and exercise.

I didn't go with training wheels but I just couldn't pick up the skill. :\

I didn't even like riding a tricycle when I was young. Didn't see the point.
