Double-stepping is only supposed to be used when the pattern calls for it based on the song.
I mean say I wanted to do something like a crossover formation, either back-and-forth or half-circle + half-circle with breaks inbetween or maybe because the song calls for something like 884286228428...etc. Goes along with Kles's overly plain sequence but it's something easy to depict rather than 842, 286, 624, 426, 684, 482, 246 (4+6).
Now doing bullshit like random steps and not really caring about patterns and formations is where the line gets drawn. You can tell when someone BSes a chart without taking style into account ESPECIALLY when they're facing a certain direction all the time.
