| Chad bought a white Macbook in 2007 for about £600 (this was close to when the Pound = almost $2) after educational discount. It broke in mid 2009, the hard disk drive completely wrecked and out of original warranty, and she has since bought a unibody MacBook Pro. It turns out the other day that Apple announced a repair program for MacBooks of this era, and hers was a prime candidate for a repair. It had been almost a year since we'd used it at this point, and took it to the Apple Store. As we'd expected (we love the Apple Store for this reason), it was indeed repaired. As we had no further use for it at this point, we decided to pop it into Computer Exchange for a trade-in for cash. She got £380 :O. Not exactly the same as finding money on the ground, but that puts the total cost of ownership for an Apple MacBook for us, for almost two years of life, at £220. That's awesome. |
