I'm off from work until Sunday morning. I really wish it was because I was going somewhere or FF13 came out and I wanted time to play it.

But no.

Some might remember a few threads that I posted about the skin on my finger coming off and I think I mentioned an allergic reaction on my face after my cat scratched me.

My allergy doctor told me a month ago that I should get a skin test done.
During an allergy skin test, your skin is exposed to allergy-causing substances (allergens) and then is observed for signs of a local allergic reaction.

Along with your medical history, allergy tests can confirm whether signs and symptoms, such as sneezing, wheezing and skin rashes, are caused by allergies. Allergy tests can also identify the specific substances that trigger allergic reactions. Information from allergy tests can help your doctor develop an allergy treatment plan that may include allergen avoidance, medications or allergy shots (immunotherapy).


I'm going tomorrow to get it down and I can't bathe or sweat for the next three days, which is why I can't work.

Finally I'll be able to know if it's band-aides or certain medicines that trigger the reaction.

Should be interesting and I'll try to take pictures of my back if possible.

Aww, hopefully they can treat that.

Mostly what I get is super-dry elbows in the winter, so I use plenty of hand lotion this time of year.

Hm, I never had allergy tests done.

Although as far as I know, I'm allergic to some sort of metal or something that is present in belt buckles, wristwatches, and necklaces.
It just makes my skin break out.
Also, I seem to get eczema around this time each year for the past couple of years. Usually on my back and sometimes the front of my chest. Nothing too bad, but it's annoying at best.

Just had the patches placed on my back.

They stay on until Thursday, but I still can't shower or sweat until Friday after they take a look at my back.

And I just almost itched a part of my back.

Oh this is gonna be fun.

I had almost the exact same test done, except for me, they used needles and pricked me with them..

I reacted negatively to every single one.. I had to get allergy shots for YEARS.

Allergies suck though. My mom was found to have an inheritable, deadly bee allergy, and I'm scared of bees now.

Apparently I have an allergy to penicillin, though I have never heard anything of me actually being tested or whatever for it. Apparently since my mom knows she's deathly allergic she automatically assumes I am as well.

Either way, she would've been dead if antibiotics were never invented, probably.

I still can't shower until tomorrow. At least the patches are off and the results are in!

First, the main reaction: Ylang Ylang oil. This is from a flower and the oil can be found in perfumes, bath oils, lipbalms, scented creams and lotions. This would explain why I would get reactions to certain lipgloss and lipsticks. Even when I was a teenager I would get a reaction, but I always thought it was from the cold or something. Now I know.

I also had two more reactions, but they are not as bad as the one listed above.

This one also had a reaction, but not as bad as the first is NA11 Bacitracin. This is used in wound care and it is an antibiotic. This is found in Neosporin, which would explain the reactions that I had on my finger (twice) and cheek (cat scratch).

Balsam of Peru, which isn't used that much anymore. It can be found in pesticides, fragrances, flavoring agent or antibacterial ingredient. It mentions a few foods that has it as a natural identical chemical ingredient, which is used to enhance the flavor of natural foods. Some foods may include: Tomato, including tomato ketchup, Cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, curry, Spiced Tea's, Chili Sauce, Chutney, Pickled Herring, Pickled Vegetables (eg Cucumbers, Beets), Citrus Peel, Citrus Juice (Oranges, Lemons, Tangerines, Grapefruit), Marmalade, Juices, Cola, Citrus Soft Drinks, Pate, Bitters, Liver Paste, Vermouth, spiced beverages, Ice Cream, Tobacco (cloves), Perfumed Teas, Various Types of cough medicine and Lozenges, Baked Goods with Citrus Flavor, Candy, Chewing Gum. But this is a contact allergy, so I might not have a problem eating/drinking said items.

The first two that were mentioned, I have had a reaction to. The last one, not that I know of, especially not with those foods.

Looks like I'm going to need a medical bracket, which I've checked, goes from $20 to $100+ dollars. Going to look into that as soon as I can.

You too? Looking back though, I wonder if I really was allergic to everything since none of the stuff that was supposed to bother me actually did. I think they just knew that my parents would pay for any wacky procedure they'd recommend.

No allergies that I know of. Some people think I'm allergic to nuts since I always turn them down; I just don't like nuts. Peanut butter, yes.

He told me to stay away from any topical antibiotics. Told me to use petroleum jelly instead. Never knew that it works for burns as well.

My back is still driving me nuts, but at least I can put itch cream on it now.
