Indeed, I got the place. The captain actually asked me if I would like to go to the corporal training, rather than just a basic medical study.

You have to have quite strong mind as well, since you have to get used having someone supervising you, learning how to speak and when not to speak. And of course, the physical and mental stress.

The short hair is just for hygiene and for militaristic look. Women are allowed to keep long hair, but they keep it tied tight.

Today we had Shooting Skill Test, SST (ATT in finnish), where you have to shoot twelve shots with the assault rifle from 150 meters. The first six shots are made from lying on your stomach. The goal plates turn to view every fifteen seconds and stay there for five seconds the first two shots, then it shortens down to three seconds for the next two shots and the last two have to be shot after another in one five second goal spin.

After that, you get three rounds to be shot freely, from kneeling position.



The last three shots have to be shot from 50 meters, standing. Three spins, every fifteen seconds and for five seconds each. If you manage to hit 11 - 12, you get one free holiday!

The picture is mainly showing the high knee position - we haven't got masks like that. Helmets and battlebelt, hoorah! (I need to get some pictures from our rookie camp.)

We have plenty of simulators, but we haven't got to test any of them, except for one simple assault rifle simulator. There's tank simulators, anti-air simulators, suit and an electronic silencer you put on the barrel of an assault rifle. There's even one which you can install on a barrel of a tank! (and then fight against other drivers - if you get "shot", the tank stops and starts beeping)

Just a quick update, two weeks left in the first corporal course. After that, we're moving to barracks in Lahti for the actual corporal medic training. The first course has mainly been about learning the basics of weapons, radios and sorts + leadership training.

Next week, we're going to have one big simulator battle with another troop, with simulator vests, tanks and sorts. Our mission is to stall the advance of an armored tank unit, keep them busy and retreat before we get overrun

It's only a bit over half left. Right now, we're returning stuff back to the warehouses in Lahti. I'll be moving back to Parola at the end of this week, so I'll get to see some old friends again.

If you're wearing an army holiday suit and walking through a street, be prepared for people staring at you, especially if it's during the week. I'm such an attention-magnet.

And cause bleeding. Did you know that every injury has a specific mechanism? Such as bullet wounds having a larger hole where they come out rather than where they come in. And how your feet reacts to a mine exploding?

Heh, fun stuff. It's pretty shocking to see some real life examples. We got a lot of those during our training.
