My new layout. But also, the photo in the background was taken by me, with a Canon AE-1 using B&W film, just outside of Mancos, Colorado.

I applied some filters to it so I could crunch the size a bit too.

It's based on Desolation, just using my own photo instead.

You can get the full effect by Viewing a list of my posts.

It's pretty darn cool. Only gripe is that the photo is not vertically-centered for me for some reason. It looks like it's really tall and kind of hanging off the bottom of my screen. This is at 1920x1080, in Firefox 3.6, on OS X; the viewable part of the page is 954 pixels tall for me. Like, I can see the top edge of the photo but no bottom. It's like the image is fixed to the position of the first post on the page rather than the entire page.

Hm, there's probably a hole in the CSS somewhere. I'll have to figure out what it is, but I did have trouble getting it to fit right horizontally.

Wow! I love that layout. Seriously. What a good idea. I really like how it's fixed to the screen, it gives it a very neat effect that I haven't seen elsewhere.

It's like a window, expect in my computer! :specialed:

Now give it some font-shadow and it's perfect.

#52
- There's a small empty space at the bottom
- It stretches the tables a bit (by almost 100 pixels, with the browser window at 1150x806)
- The background is positioned at the bottom-right of the browser window, but isn't as large as the bigger screens ... so when I try 1920x1200 fullscreen, the whole top and even left has no background

But it looks nice, doesn't seem to lag the browser, and the filesize isn't bad at all

Well, unfortunately, my image is limited in size, but the stretching on the bottom could be helped--it's a minheight thing, and has to be adjusted so instead of stretching the window, it just ensures it fits the window.

I guess I could make it repeat for the really huge screen sizes, though.

At 1080p with the browser at its maximum vertical height (but not its width -- maximizing a browser at 1080p should be a crime,) it looks fine to me now. All I see in the post background is the photo.

I made it repeat now, so it should fill whatever you throw at it.

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
