So, you, or you may have a friend who is scared of 2012? Well, read this:

I am not about to calm your nerves about dying. Because everyone has to die eventually. This is a fact of life. And everyone has a time limit. The surprise is that we do not know when.

Now, 2012 is coming. Close mind you. Will it be a Meteor? Will it be that the Earth's gravitational field will shift so much that the sun's radiation will hit us in such a way that it will cause a scorched earth? Will it be that the earth will say "Fuck it" and have it's core close in on itself? Or some other reason that I fail to link here?

First off, let's get one thing absolutely clear: Our beautiful planet earth has been fine for millions and millions of years. The earth started from scientific study (After multiple meteor impacts) Pangea. Oh hey! You may have heard this from your 5th grade science class. Pangea! That's right. This was from millions of years ago, even before the dinosaurs have roamed the earth. As the continents have split, so have the gravitational fields.

In studies, the gravitational fields have indeed shifted. But this is from what I understand (Quote me if I am wrong) about 0.0002 CM from looking at the earth (About 3 inches per year from the ground point). But does this mean that that the sun will soon pour radiation upon the earth and kill us all? Meanwhile cause a scorched earth?

1- Why is there a sphere around this earth that PROTECTS us from this radiation?

2- There already is radiation pouring out from the sun and into this earth. Ever heard of a Godamn sunburn? That's radiation.

3- There is no way on earth (See what I did there) that the earth could instantly move in such a way that it would "Leak radiation enough to cause a scorched earth". Read 4

4- Even if it did, it already has been, and there is indeed a "Hole" that may leak this. But there is no scorched earth! Oh goody!

So, now let's look into the Aztechs, the beings from tens of thousands of years whom believe that the Calender will "Reset".

Notice how I said Reset there. Because that is what they have said. Our Ancestors, there is a word in their language for End, and Death. But instead, they chose "Reset"

The only thing that is going to happen on this day is guess fucking what:

THE FUCKING WINTER SOLSTICE. You can also click this link on every other answer you may have questions for about 2012 and how NASA has proven this all wrong.

Now, let's pretend that 2012 will happen.

YOU STILL DIE! WHAT IS TO WORRY ABOUT?

You can worry all day and all night. What can you do about it? Seriously? Think about this for a minute. And come to a conclusion that you will die either by accident, on purpose, or from old age. It's that fucking simple.

I am so sick and tired of hearing about how we are all gonna die in 2012 that it's not even funny.

There's a lot of things in life that don't have proof of it's existence yet people believe. Don't matter if you have proof or not.

When I was younger, I did believe in 2012. Not sure where I got it from but I know I had dreams about it.

These days, I could go either way. If it happens, neat. It would be something different than the usual BS. If not, same BS different day.

I'm honestly more worried for January 19, 2038, as something can actually happen on that day... (32-bit Unix time resets to sometime in 1901, and this could be disastrous to certain embedded systems)

And who knows how many satellites in terrestrial orbit contain systems running 32-bit Unix, and even many governments still use systems with 32-bit Unix time. Around 3:14 GMT that day, if there's a lot of satellites falling from orbit, then you'll know why. =P

A while ago, when I was back working at WinCo, a customer came through my line with a ton of canned food. I was a bit curious about this situation. Well, he was talking about the end of the world in 2012 and that he was stocking up so he could survive it. The end of the world. The end of the world. It doesn't matter how many cans of vienna sausage you cram into your storm cellar, you're a complete moron if you think that you can just wait out the end of the fucking world!

I'm undecided.

Reading wikipedia (the italian one) i have read the definition, and there are a lot of things that have been denied.

-About the Maya calendar: it should be a new cycle, not an end
-A lot of times planets (and the sun with the center of the galaxy have been aligned, but nothing happened maybe that was when Berlusconi was born *shot*
-About magnetic storm, this won't happen on 2012 (iirc)

People thought the end of the world would happen at the start of 2000 and it didn't and people didn't go too crazy on New Year's Eve, so I don't think that many people will go nuts the eve of 12/22/2012.

Indeed they died due of colonializzazion of the Conquistadores, viruses and many other things. Today it is rare to find a descendent of them (or impossible)

I also woder how do people believe that Nostradamus predicted the attack to the Twin Towers in 2001. It is really easy to say this, after such thing happened. (I have heard about Nostradamus's predictions: i've heard he said Obama will be killed in the restraurant )

I always thought of this. Also, I always thought they may have just been too lazy to keep making more days for it.

Also, there have been several predictions, like 2000 and one in the 1200's or so, tat never happened. I think some of the more ancient predictions caused panic, but as people kept trying to change the date for it, most people stopped making a deal of it. I've also heard somewhere that in 201, a big meteor will kill us all. (This was started mainly around my area, but I've heard simmilar ones in other places.)
