(Note, I go into full detail of what happened so if you're squeamish about reading about vomit and shit, just read the tl;dr.)

tl;dr: I have food poisoning and today sucked.

Long version (with dirty details): Last night at midnight I start feeling a bit uneasy on my stomach. Felt like I wanted to puke. So I go to bed at 1 trying to sleep it off. Not happening. At 4 my body wakes me up and proceeds to direct me to the bathroom where I then puke and have liquidy diarrhea after about a half hour's time. After doing this, I shake it off as best I can, now with an empty stomach because that had been most of my dinner that came up. Trying to drink a little water, I go back to bed. 30 minutes later around 5 my body wakes me up again where I proceed to do the same thing again though this time only puking up the water and a little more when I vomit. Cue similar instances at 6 and 7 AM. After 7 I didn't even try going to sleep again because if it was just going to stay like this why should I bother?

So I look online and check symptoms of food poisoning. Scanning a site I see this:
Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., and Campylobacter jejuni (C. jejuni): fever, chills, bloody diarrhea

Not exactly what I had but it was the closest (I did have a slight fever, I was shivering). Looking into it further...
Symptoms appear about 1-2 days after infection, and include fever (in 50% ofpatients), nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps and pain. Thediarrhea is usually very liquid, and rarely contains mucus or blood. Diarrhea usually lasts for about four days. The illness usually ends in about five to seven days.

That sounds exactly like what i have.

So after another 2 hours of me being in the bathroom because I felt I would puke again (which I didn't, no puking since 7AM so far), I called up the hospital nearby. It's essentially a part of campus. I told an ER nurse over the phone what happened and I walked the 20 minutes across campus to get there.

In the ER, I was hooked up to an IV for fluid transfer because all the vomiting and diarrhea caused me to become quite dehydrated. So they gave me fluids through an IV, took urine, stool and blood samples and I waited there, catching a few Zzz's as time went on. Around 2:30 is when I was finally discharged with prescriptions for medicines and a generally feeling better feeling. I go and get the prescriptions filled at the hospital pharmacy, call my parents and tell them, and then call a cab because it's freezing outside and it's 20 minutes walk to get home. So I take the cab, get back to the dorm around 4:00, take the nausea medicine I was given and I collapsed until now.

Liquid diet, soft foods, that's what I'll be eating and drinking for a few days. I've also got an antibiotic that I'll be taking later tonight since it's twice a day.

Know the best part of all this? I had a test today that I missed because of this all. Though I emailed the teacher and told him and he said I can take it tomorrow morning if I have a doctor's note, which I do.

So that was today for me. Fuck food poisoning. Fuck it hard and long.

Ick.

I recently had some kind of nasty 24-hour flu (though it MIGHT have been food poisoning, given that it started right after I ate at Quizno's). Horrible muscle aches, cold sweats, fever, sleeplessness, whacked-out waking dreams, really painful nausea and diarrhea, the works. I could barely even hold down water, my stomach hurt so bad. It's amazing how the body can expel far more fluids than it takes in.

I had stomach flu from what I believe to have been old milk in Germany. Ever vomited water? Not fun, especially in a tiny student home with no bathroom (it was shared).

Went to bed at 9PM last night and slept til 8AM. Had an awesome dream about being able to play guitar and was leaping all over the room in my dream while playing it in front of a huge crowd with whatever band was playing. No clue what the song was or who they were but it happened and was fucking awesome. Had a make-up test for the Energy test I missed yesterday at 10, then class. Took my nausea medicine and I'm now slowly eating some applesauce, the first food I've had in 30+ hours. Feeling generally better.

Gawd i wonder what did you eat for getting this crap!

Sucky moments like this happen (unfortunately) to everyone. I hoped for long of avoiding of puking, about 2000 and 2007 i didn't puke. Fortunately i am not a gourmet. I never had this kind of stomachache, though. Fortunately this is not infinite.
