It's the first day of winter (or summer if you're in the Southern Hemisphere)

Of course, the title is likely to be an oxymoron for some of us For me it means I'll be taking the bus instead of my bike for a while. At least I don't have really late classes in the coming semester where I had to take a taxi home some nights. It should be my last winter in Michigan as well.

Finally, the days start getting longer... I thought the winter solstice (or traditional Yule) would never come

(note: there's two different definitions of Yule, or Jul... one uses the winter solstice, while the other one uses Christmas )
