I have 2 cheap ones, an LG and a Motorola, both using Tracfone (prepaid provider; I pay for minutes as I go rather than per month). The LG I keep at home all of the time as my "home phone", as AT&T charges ridiculous amounts for landline service around here (like $52/month). The Motorola I take with me often along with its charger, as my "cell phone".

I didn't get one until 2007, believe it or not.

My first one was a Kyocera from around 2003 or so, with Verizon Wireless... I kept that around for over four years, until I finally replaced it in 2007 with an LG phone, which I still use today (still Verizon)

I do admit that I am sometimes outdated with technology (like still using VHS in 2005 ), although I'm thinking about getting a new phone soon (I'm not sure if I want a BlackBerry or not... I know I'm staying away from the iPhone because I don't like AT&T or Apple )

My first cellphone is a Tracfone with Motorola.

None for me, and I still don't feel the need to get one anytime soon (although both of my sisters have one now ...)


But then I'm rarely ever on the phone, and could use a normal phone anyway (and my computer for any other features), so I guess it makes sense

Count me in with the Tracfone crew. Having a shitty Motorola dumbphone from 8-9 years ago kind of sucks but you can't beat the prepaid plan.

I started with Samsung SGH-A707 I think. Now I have a 16gb iPhone 3gs which I'm posting from right now. I almost never call people because I hate talking on the phone, but I use it for chatting and Internet a lot. Maybe should've gotten an iPod touch but this integrates 2 devices in one even though I don't use the functionality of one of the devices.

I have a LG Rumor. The little slide phone with a key pad to text people like crazy. It starting to annoy me now because some of the keys wont work from time to time and it shuts off whenever it feel like it.

Cheap, free-with-the-calling-plan flip phone works for me. If it makes calls and receives them with any degree of reliability, it's fine with me. I rarely need to use it, so it's more of an emergency device than anything else.

I have an iPhone 3GS 16GB which I got about a week ago (my first cell phone), but I can't use it yet. I have it on a prepaid plan right now where I get charged roughly the equivalent of $3.30 per MB to use 3G. I only wanted it to be able to use mobile internet, not for the phone features - so until I get it on a contract (soon, just need to get it set up) I can't use it.

I'd say "use Wi-Fi" but if I can't find decent Wi-Fi to use on my iPod Touch when I live in the so-called "Greatest City in the World" (believe me, Manhattan is supposed to be Wi-Fi central especially for the benefit of the ol' tourists), then I doubt you'd find any around your local little chunk of Gibraltar.
