I have a friend who's an okay person, but sometimes she's just as stupid as can be. Let's put aside the fact that she is one of those people who should never own a computer ever, as those are never-ending jokes in and of themselves. Today we focus on completely butchered pronunciations of words that I thought everyone knew how to pronounce.

First, I was talking to her about tea and about how I just bought a Lipton sampler pack that had chamomile tea in it. She's like "Oh, you mean "kah-my-al" tea? I've had that before, its great!"

But then it gets worse. Somehow our conversation switched to religions of the world, and I showed her something about Islam (that's a thread in and of itself. I found some hate literature that my baptist church has apparently been handing out to people trying to prove that all religions are wrong except for their own church. I hate religious extremism! This is exactly why I quit going to that church years ago). It obviously mentioned Allah, and she's like, "oh, Al-eye-ah, who's that?" *facepalm.

What's really irritating is that she insists that her pronunciations are correct no matter how many times I correct her. Do you see a "I" anywhere in "Allah"? I don't think so!

So anyway, my friends can be pretty retarded sometimes. Do any of you have any friends who sometimes do little things that get on your nerves like this?

Maybe she was thinking of the singer Aaliyah

My mom, AFAIK, never uses the address bar in a Web browser. I can give her a URL that's obviously a URL, like "aitch tee tee pee colon slash slash jul dot rustedlogic dot net", and she'll type it into Google's search box.

My mom's car's radio has a button/knob for power and volume. Push the button to toggle the radio on and off, and turn the knob to adjust the volume. Instead of pushing the button, when my parents want to turn the radio off they just turn the knob to a very low volume instead. Then, when I want it on, I push the button and wonder why it doesn't come on.

I remember insisting as a little kid that a word is supposed to be pronounced this way instead of that. I grew out of it, though.

You know what other group of people are stupid? Trolls. What is the freaking point of what they are doing in the first place? I know it's to incite drama, but don't they have anything better to do? Oh wait, they sit in front of their computers all day looking at porn, playing video games, and jacking off. Noticing this sad existence, they troll on forums in order to feel better about themselves by making others feel as bad as they are.

Sorry, had to vent. I had to deal with group trolling on an old forum I went to towards unpopular members, and I was in that small group.

I have a friend who also refuses to pronounce things correctly. It's like it's impossible. The name is Kayle for instance, a character in a game we're playing. He says, "Kyle, what a lame name, it's the only one that doesn't sound unique." and of course I correct him "It's Kay-le."

Five minutes later he refers to it as Kyle again. Same with inhibitor. He keeps mispronouncing it like it's some hardcore math, saying inhiberator or incubator. Same with turret, he says turrent/torrent. And if you correct him on some of these, he'll also say "Who fucking cares how you say it it sounds similar so it's right."

And then there are easy words he can't say correctly even looking at them, I can't think of any off the top of my head, but god it's ridiculous. He also spells terrible, writing feel instead of fell (Yes, he often says I feel asleep) or insainly or delly (deli) and more...

His speech is also an enigma sometimes, he has some weird accent.

Sounds like he has low verbal IQ, maybe. He can't spell, that's for sure.

I also kind of have an irk with unprofessional comics done by 10-19 year olds that may either look like crap or have terrible spelling. Or worse, both.

The old comic in the school newspaper was an example of the former, with an addition of bad layout overall.
