I had one (1) message in Discord deleted and proceeded to make a huge, huge mess about how it was a violation of free speech and how moderators are supposed to be spam janitors and nobody should have the right to tell me not to talk about school shootings

Haruhi may be awesome but it's hardly obscure.

I do have a hobby of hacking DVD players. Region-free at least, anti-Macrovision and other nonsense when possible.

Finding unused stuff in old video games, i.e. graphics, levels, debug modes, and the like. Stuff the public was never intended to see. That's pretty darned obscure in general, though not so much in a community like this one.

Yeah I was gonna say ROM hacking but ehh... Gotta love the debug menus and beta junk.

Pretty much anything related to the Three Kingdoms period of ancient China, from serious business history research to pop culture adaptations of the people and events. This isn't obscure in the west per se thanks to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel and various video games based on it, mostly KOEI's Dynasty Warriors beat 'em ups and Romance of the Three Kingdoms strategy series. Still, it's most popular in East Asia and not all that well known here.

I'm a fan of Konami's old Gradius titles on the Microsoft MSX computer: Gradius 2 (not THAT one), Salamander (not quite the same as the other incarnations), and Gofer's Ambition: Episode 2. (essentially a sequel to both Gradius 2 and Gradius II). Yeah, the original Gradius was on the computer console too but that one is a version of the arcade/NES game.

...Also, I really like The Real Ghostbusters. Partially because it might have been the first cartoon I ever saw. Not really sure.
