Actually, I get stressed out easily over a lot of little things. Well...more like they build up and I LET them stress me. I'm not one to show it but I get quite frustrated at things such as bullshit traffic lights (why design a light that is green for three seconds and red for fifteen minutes)

Web sites that reorganize and redirect all the old links to the home page rather than to their corresponding new URLs.

In a similar vein, Web sites that delete content quickly. Mostly this is news Web sites, and zillions of blogs and pages and Wikipedia articles keep links to the article long after it's gone.

oh god this.

I've had to poke around on archive.org for a few things like this before. On 56k, that was a massive pain in the ass.

  • When my monitors aren't perfectly aligned, I'll eventually notice and just have to fix it.
  • People who say they'll get back to you/call you back/etc and don't. Or don't respond to text messages. Rude.
  • Comments in assembler! They just seem to choose random characters. Sometimes it's @, sometimes it's #, some even use /* C style! */ This is not C, not Bash, not what the fuck ever uses @ for a comment! Semicolon is the only appropriate character for comments in assembly! Don't even start with the multiple statements per line crap. You don't do that!
  • Anything that requires registration to view. You really shouldn't even require it to post comments in most cases.
  • In Linux (at least Xubuntu) clipboard data is requested from whichever program last copied at the time it's pasted. Which means if you copy, then close the program, the clipboard is wiped out. Who the hell designed that? There are hacky workaround programs that run in the background and copy it themselves, but they don't work.
  • People who get all bothered or upset by something harmless or funny. Like who the fuck cares?
  • When you do a bunch of work for someone and all they have to say is pointing out the one thing you did wrong. Some gratitude would be appreciated.
  • Lights being left on. At school the bathroom lights are on all day. Nobody bothers to simply flick them off when they leave. There's even still a second set of lights that are bright enough as it is, so those big main lights don't need to be on at all! In my apartment building the hallways are fully lit 24/7. Why do we need such bright lights all night? It's just annoying and wasteful. Dim them just to where you can see, and install a damn window at one end (or both) for the daytime.
  • Why do PS2/PSP swap X/O in English countries? It's just silly. PSP has a system-wide configuration for it, but you can't change it without a hack, and half the games/homebrew ignore it anyway, so you're always having to switch back and forth. It's even worse when the games don't respect it themselves, but pass it on to the built-in system menu functions, so you're using X to confirm in the game menus, but suddenly you need to use O in a save file/wifi AP selection menu.
  • The significant lack of drag and drop functionality in today's operating systems. I should be able to drag an image or link from Firefox to a folder window to save it there. Drag a file into an Open File dialog to open it, or into a textbox to insert its path. Drag embedded videos, images, etc off a web page into their own window. Drag a highlighted URL from a text editor into Firefox. Many things I should be able to do here.
  • It feels like something's stuck under my fingernail, but there isn't. Agh!
  • So many sites that are complete bullshit (registration required to view content, or no content at all) still manage to be within the first few results for Google searches fairly often. I can usually tell when a site's going to be a search engine trap just with a glance at the title and URL. Why can't Google? Especially for sites that have been reported repeatedly by numerous people, ranked untrustworthy in services like WOT, etc. I can only believe they're paying off Google, or they'd be gone by now. (I'm looking at you ExpertSexChange.)
  • Domain squatters. Can we get some kind of "use it or lose it" law to get rid of these? Actually, the patent system needs that too. If you're clearly using your domain name/patent for nothing other than to keep others from having it or to annoy people, it gets revoked, fuck you.

Drag your taskbar to the side of the screen. It's bliss. Except 7 fails at it. >8^(

Those annoy me so much. Don't domains ever just fade away naturally anymore?

I especially don't like how they tend to masquerade as a real Web site with bot-created keywords around everywhere.

That was school for me. I had been reading books with no pictures for years, and in 5th grade the teacher acted like we all had to have the books dictated to us excruciatingly slowly, not allowing us to read ahead, because of a few individuals who had trouble reading. Of course, it didn't help that she tended to pick the most boring books ever

Some other school ones for me:
- The education equivalent of the [trope]NonstandardGameOver[/trope]: The Automatic Fail. Usually caused by something like having too many absences. I think that if you can learn the material from the textbook and/or other sources, pass the tests, and complete the assignments and projects, you should be able to pass the class without attending the lectures.
- Extremely harsh penalties for late assignments. In the real world, projects run behind schedule constantly, but in school, I've had many teachers who will reduce an A to a D or F is it's one day late, and sometimes even one second late.
- Teachers, especially if they do the above, who take weeks or even months to hand back papers. I just got a stack back today, parts of which are things I turned in back in September.

Jul-related: When people mention page counts of threads under the assumption that everyone uses 20 PPP.

Amen to the PPP one, I use 100 PP and TPP.

But yeah, either next semester convinces me that staying at this university is a good idea, or I drop out and just get a full-time job and pay rent.

Well, at least for a while I would hate having my alarm go off at 7:30a, 8:00a, etc. and only would set my alarm to go off either 12 minutes after 7, 45 after 7, 12 after 8, but recently I've been setting my alarms for 6:50, 7:30, and 7:45.

My desk. When it gets messy, it just bugs me. But usually not to the point where once it gets messy I clean it up. :p

And of course: nub typng leik dis lik dey dunt no how 2 spel.

People who are senselessly annoyed by little things. I'm not just saying that to be clever; it seriously bothers me when people get bothered enough over trivialities to the point of being seriously angry and cursing.

People who think religion is somehow inherently evil and jump at every chance to complain about people having any sort of belief in a higher power whatsoever, especially in situations where it's inappropriate. While I'm not religious by any means (I could probably be classified as an atheistic agnostic), I've known some kind and intelligent people who find a lot of strength in faith. If it helps get them through the day and they're not being dogmatic and (quite literally) holier-than-thou about it, who honestly cares? Of course, maybe I've just been more understanding of religious people since I've always grown up around Christians who have actually been pretty sensible and tolerant.

When people use apostrophes in plural words (e.g. "plum's"). This is so much more common than it should be. It's not that big of a deal to me, but I definitely notice it way more than I should. I realize I'm just being an obnoxiously nitpicky shithead.

This, absolutely.

And finally, this is unrelated and I'm not really bothered by it, but:

Typos. I fucking hate typos. Not "traditional" typos, though--I hate when people purposely neglect very clear, simple conventions of the English language.

If someone intentionally ignores a convention of the English language, it's not a "typo". The term "typo" stands for "typographical error", and only refers to mistakes made during the typing process (i.e. those made by a slip or misalignment of the fingers).

And now I expect somebody to add that they're annoyed by people who nitpick too much.

People that butcher the English language while texting, IMing, etc...

Getting a text message that says only: 'k'
