Are there any just tiny things you encounter in your life that drive you absolutely bonkers nonetheless?

For me:
- I try to keep my number of tabs open in Firefox at 5 or fewer, because it bothers me when they compress to make room. Similarly with taskbar buttons, which is why I use a double-height taskbar.
- Writing or pencil marks in textbooks. I've even erased stray marks from other people's textbooks

Double-height taskbars are one of those things, amusingly enough.

...Especially in Windows 7. It's just pointless and ugly in 7.

When you're about to do something but you forget what it is and can't remember.

(In fact, I thought of something to post in this thread when I saw the title.. but I forgot what it was after I clicked New Reply. )

I get bothered by almost every little thing very easily. Just who I am. I could start a list, but I'm trying to post in more than one thread right now.

But I'll have a go at it.

1. Clutterness - which isn't even a word
2. Dirty workspace
3. other people making a mess of my work station.
4. Slow drivers.
5. Over weight people who eat at a buffet and tell me that they don't care anymore to try to lose weight.
6. people who don't get to the point right away.
7. followers aka drones aka sheep
8. Glenn Beck's crying (my hubby and his family are conservatives, so it's hard not to glance at the TV sometimes)
9. fake people.
10. people who just stand around and/or talk while I help them out to clean their station. Well, screw you guys, tehre goes your little bit of help (also see 3)

Okay, I think 10 is fine....for now.

Typos. I fucking hate typos. Not "traditional" typos, though--I hate when people purposely neglect very clear, simple conventions of the English language. Run-on sentences, dropping caps, using the wrong punctuation, spacing after punctuation--all of it drives me insane. I've installed multiple word filters on my own forum to combat this, but it's only so successful on its own.

Seriously! I mean, when I started using the internet, nobody cut me any slack when it came to my typing and I'm all the better for it. Does it really take people a lot to just take three seconds and proofread their posts? At least they have it easy compared to a few years ago; Firefox and other popular browsers have built-in spell checkers and shit. There's no excuse for laziness.

1. When I'm looking for French songs by googling French singers and most of them, although of French origin, sing entirely in English. D:

2. When idiots in YouTube call Spanish "Latin" instead of at least "Latin Spanish" or "Latin American Spanish"

3. When people ask me if Italian is a messed up version of Spanish ... (it has happened a LOT)

4. And when you forget what you were going to do/say.

1. I keep rolling over my long microphone cord and it gets stuck in the wheel of my chair and that's pretty annoying

2. Putting a line break after making a quote inserts an extraneous line break in the post which is something that most other forums will not do

Well, if we get into English usage, there are so many.

- Misused apostrophe's
- Prose fiction written in the present tense. It tends to read awkwardly to me, I guess.
- Double negatives. I don't mean the obvious mistakes like "I don't want no homework", but the more subtle ones that cancel, like "not unfriendly". Why not just say "friendly"? I have to stop and unravel the logic with those "not un-" things, especially if there are intervening words.
- Overuse of & for and. You can use it in proper names and abbreviations that use the &, of course, but I recall reading some entries by this guy who would pretty much never use the word "and" at all, always using & instead.

• getting dragged to church (usually as chauffeur for others who want to go but can't drive themselves) when I am a rather anti-social person by nature and don't buy into religion
• maximized browser windows on machines with resolutions high enough that the window does not need to be maximized
• people who are uneducated and proud of it
• my headset keeps getting caught between the plastic front bezel and the case on my PC and gets yanked off my head when I sit up
• the stupid smoke alarms going off when I'm trying to bake or cook anything in the oven, even after the oven has been cleaned
• Lexmark printers (do they ever work properly? I have yet to find one that does)
• customers who are too rude to ask a question and just say a single word when they want to find something ("LAPTOPS" "CAMERAS" "DVDS" etc. And really, how hard is it to find the appliances section? See all those giant refrigerators over there?)
• People who think that pledging their undying devotion to a software company/computer company/video game/yogurt/type of turtle/rubber chicken/ice cream/band matters, and get offended by the smallest negative comment and decide that they have to defend their beloved to the death (e.g. fanboyism.) Prime examples: youtube comments, any comments on an article related to Apple or Microsoft on any tech news place, Twilight fans

Old people who smell. No, really, almost every single old man or woman has a distinctive stench, which kills your sense of smell.

Hyperactive children, who are old enough to understand that they're asked to stop it.

Some people, who always, ALWAYS critize your way of doing something, may it be clothing, eating or your hobby.

Urgh.

Whistling.

I'm not sure what it is about whistling, but I can't stand it. (Like, a person doing it, not a whistle)

The fact that all computers still type the grave accent with that stupid key up in the corner. It looks like an apostrophe, but it's not! Don't use it like an apostrophe! Don't use it at all! Why haven't we fixed this yet!?

...Ahem...

Yeah.

Speaking of which, a lot of people, especially in the ``Unix'' world, seem to use the ``doubled grave accent'' and ``doubled apostrophe'' as ``makeshift'' ``quotation marks''. It looks horrible and it doesn't even save typing or space, not to mention that I don't know of any keyboard lacking a " key.

Also, the # symbol is not a "pound sign". The £ symbol is a pound sign, because it represents the British pound sterling. The # symbol is variously called the hash, number sign, or octothorpe.

Ah geez, where to begin?

It bugs me when I have to be near someone noticably sick with the cold or flu or whatever. I don't want to get sick, kthxbai.
And I've recently learned that I don't like getting phone calls when I'm still trying to sleep in the morning. The fact that I have to get up and answer the phone bothers me beyond belief, even for something simple as a phone call.

The fact that I keep dropping my mouse -- I had to replace the one that came with the computer I bought. It's only a cheapo mouse that only cost me $10, but I still drop it on occasion.

On the topic of chewing, I was sitting next to someone one day, and all of a sudden they put a carrot in their mouth and the crunching sound scared the crap out of me. Why eat carrots or celery in a room that's quiet?
