Same feeling. This background is too much distracting, making it harder to read your post.

The old one was less distracting, more plain. That's why I tend to prefer that one.

There isn't enough contrast between your background colour and your text colour. Consider something like #9D94FF for text instead.

Right. Just tested the original colors with that CCA tester Tarale gave me: fail.

#9D94ff does pass.

My Windows computer exploderated (overheated) yesterday, what value did it get as a pass? When I use the CCA and a program on my Mac together (Colour Schemer Studio) I aim to make it pass at on or only a fraction over 5.00 so it's not too disruptive to the colour scheme intended by the designer.

Yeah, that contrast is a bit "vibey"; not enough of a difference in luminosity. It can actually hurt some people's eyes (like mine).

Give this tool a go to find something a little more suited with regards to luminosity. It is your friend and it is awesome, and it will ensure you always make a layout or website that is readable for everyone:

Colour Contrast Analyser

It's an excellent tool, and it is designed with accessibility standards in mind. It's actually required-use in any web development project where readability and accessibility is needed—and given you want us to read your posts (I assume), you're best to give it a go

It's more that the blue text needs to be lighter. It doesn't have enough contrast with the black, so it causes this "vibey" sensation with the eyes where they can't quite focus on the text properly.

Check it out with that Colour Contrast Analyser.

But, actually, it's allright when the black box covers all the height. But when there are gaps, the background tends to distract the eyes and make reading the post harder...

I'm on my Mac (my Windows computer blew up last week) so I can't use the Colour Contrast Analyser until I get an appropriate VM set up again, but using a different analysis tool, try #7A99FF against black.

That should pass. Colour Schemer Studio doesn't give me the luminosity pass ratios, but it still tells me if something passes or doesn't

It's better, but not enough. Ran it through Colour Schemer Studio on the Mac and it doesn't pass the luminosity contrast.

It will take me a few hours to install Windows on a VM to get exact values, so it might be quicker for you to try Colour Contrast Analyser yourself in the meantime.
