Well, a lot of old Final Fantasy board were AcmlmBoards, and many of their members filtered to Acmlm's over time I think Anya was one of them.

When I joined, I don't think I knew what Final Fantasy was yet

I was on 2 of the larger Final Fantasy boards before I made AcmlmBoard, they ran VBB The only AcmlmBoard one I remember was Orlandu's FF Alexandria, and maybe FF Fire ...

My ROM hacks were all made within the year before AcmlmBoard too

Yea... it's disappointing how the only major forum systems commonly in use are Invision, vBulletin, phpBB, and SMF -_-

Does anyone remember IkonBoard or YaBB? (well, technically YaBB eventually evolved into SMF...)

I don't see the problem with it. I prefer Acmlmboards, though...

(unless it's invision. seriously invision is sucky buggy bloatware)

I don't remember Ikonboard or YaBB. I do remember UltimateBB/UBBThreads though.

I prefer the old days of more variety. Now, most boards tend to bore me with the same software and the same overall look to them. Like the widespreadness of a few default phpBB themes.

I've pretty much always loved Acmlmboards They were so interesting to me. The colour schemes, the username colours, the fun uncommon stuff like EXP and syndromes, etc.

Speaking of message boards... there's a new one out made by the same group who made WordPress called bbPress. I have yet to try it out myself (since I never really had a reason to set up a message board in the past few years) but it seems nice and light. Another newcomer is Vanilla. I tried it out some time ago, and it seems nice and light as well.

That makes it stand out from other, generic #452459 boards where the admins tell you "not possible" when you want them to do simple changes because it's not in the Admin CP.

Yea... AcmlmBoard is definitely my favourite board system so far... but out of the commonly-used ones, I prefer SMF for some reason... probably because it's far easier to work with than IPB or phpBB ^_^

For some reason, I usually can't stand the look of phpBB Especially if it uses the default theme.

I guess I'm sick to death of black-on-very-light-blue and 8-point Verdana.

I actually found SMF more confusing than IPB. I hated its usergroups system, not to mention I think the interface is just cluttered.

IPB used to be my favorite (besides Acmlmboards), but it's become extremely bloated and they've tried to make profile pages too much like web 2.0 social networking sites instead of, um, message board profiles (the same is true of vBulletin). Not to mention it's incredibly expensive. I think my current favorite is MyBB, but it's not very popular.

As for me and vBulletin, I don't like the new style where the "side"bar is above the post rather than to the left.

I've even seen a phpBB that had it on the right They moved it to the left though.
